Lavish set work underway
Peddi is a rustic sports drama set in Uttarandhra backdrop, and Vizianagaram town is one of the important towns / districts in the region. While the shooting of Ram Charan-starrer is taking place briskly, we have reliably learnt that the makers of the film are all poised to build a lavish set. Buzz is that the makers are trying to recreate important places of Vizianagaram town. Since it’s difficult for the makers to shoot at Vizianagaram because of logistic issues, they are recreating the town in a specially built set on the outskirts of Hyderabad. From vintage houses and market areas to roads, railway stations and a sports arena, production designer Avinash Kolla is leaving nothing to chance to make the set look opulent and authentic. A source close to the unit says, “The set is being built to transport the audiences to the era. The set is very expensive but forms an integral part of the story. Director Buchi Babu Sana is not looking at it just like another lavish set, but more of a character in the film.”
Big-budget flick
What started as a Rs 200 crore film is now slowly touching towards Rs 300 crore. The filmmakers believe that the story demands the required cost and lavishness. Peddi could perhaps be the costliest film in Ram Charan’s career. But the makers exude confidence that the film period film will strike a chord with the audiences. With AR Rahman providing music and Janhvi Kapoor as the leading lady, Peddi has all the right ingredients to draw the audiences to the theatres.
