Martin Quinn Wraps Filming As Scotty In Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Martin Quinn, who plays Lieutenant Montgomery Scott AKA Scotty, announces he has series wrapped filming of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The fifth and final season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is nearing the end of production in Toronto, with filming warping towards its conclusion before the holidays.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds was renewed for a fifth and final 6-episode season by Paramount+ when Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 premiered in June 2025. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 wrapped filming last summer and is expected to premiere on Paramount+ in 2026, with the final season to follow in 2027.

On his Instagram Stories, Martin Quinn shared a photo of his trailer door to mark the end of his time playing Scotty on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Slyly set to the Lustra song “Scotty Doesn’t Know” from Eurotrip, Quinn cheekily posts “That’s a wrap on Scot-man” and “See ye round Scot-man…. Mascotman.” See Martin’s Story below:

Martin Quinn is the newest series regular on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Quinn’s debut as Scotty was a surprise in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2’s finale. Martin was bumped up to the main cast in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3, as opposed to Carol Kane, who is a recurring guest star as Scotty’s superior officer, Chief Engineer Commander Pelia.

Years before becoming the USS Enterprise’s Chief Engineer in Star Trek: The Original Series, the younger Lieutenant Scott is still learning how to apply his engineering genius to become a “miracle worker” (and enjoy drinking Scotch). Martin Quinn calling Scotty “Mascotman” nods to how he hilariously plays back-up comic relief to the rest of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ characters.

    Scotty in Engineering

Martin Quinn is the third actor to play Scotty in Star Trek, following James Doohan, who originated the role in Star Trek: The Original Series, and Simon Pegg in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek movie trilogy. Admirably, Quinn also made history as the first actor to play Scotty who is actually Scottish.

As Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ filming ends, Martin Quinn follows Christina Chong and Celia Rose Gooding, who also recently wrapped their five-year missions on the Starship Enterprise. Look forward to Scotty being part of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds seasons 4 and 5, which are still to come, as he edges towards his destiny as the Enterprise’s Chief Engineer.
