Where would we be without modding? Games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are still going strong over a decade after they originally launched because of modders. Red Dead Redemption 2 is still getting new content every other day because of modders. Fallout 4 is a much better game than it was at launch because — well, you get the idea.
While NexusMods is typically considered the platform for modders, 2026 has seen the launch of a brand-new platform for creators to share their very own mods. GGMods officially launched January 7, and aims to offer creators remuneration for their hard work.
GGMods Will Pay For Your Work
GGMods is bucking a long-standing trend
I’ll be honest, one of the most impressive things about modders, in my eyes, has always been that they do what they do for the love of the game (literally). There are people out there making whole-ass expansions for games like Skyrim and Fallout for free. But that doesn’t have to be the case anymore.
GGMods wants to upend the expectation that modders should do what they do for free by building a creator-first environment. The platform will select the best of the best, offering them financial support and resources to take their work to the next level. There’s more to it than that, though: you’ll be able to work out how much you stand to earn via a fixed-rated revenue system. The platform’s earning model makes it so that creators who are bringing people to the website are the ones that stand to benefit the most.
Modders can also work with GGMods to get Completion Grants, partnerships, and ongoing promotion, all of which are designed with the hope that mods can be completed and released in the best state. After all, who among us hasn’t downloaded a cool-looking mod only to discover it’s super broken?
Other features include:
- Transparent economics with clear, predictable payouts
- IP protection through specialized anti-theft systems and “Official GGMods Original” badges
- Modern UX with guided upload flows and game-specific templates
- Active community presence with staff regularly available in Discord
- Mainstream visibility through GameRant and Polygon coverage for featured creators
- For modders migrating from other platforms, GGMods offers founding badges, boosted visibility, and private Discord channels with direct access to the development team.
It’s early days for GGMods, but the website aims to build a genuine community through mod jams, a dedicated Discord server, and plenty more.
