If you’re not a Pokémon fan, be prepared to be hit with a lot of Pokémon-related media and announcements this year. It’s the 30th anniversary of the series’ original Japanese release, and there are already festivities planned.
We have yet to see the official reveal of Generation 10, but leaks have been flowing in the meantime. Over on Reddit, the community is having a field day over the alleged Gen 10 Pokémon starter reveals.
No Way These Leaked Pokémon Starters Are Real
We’ll See In A Month Or So
Everyone thinks they have an inside line on what the Generation 10 (also known as Wind & Wave) starters will look like, but for now, many guesses are based on vibes. The post notes: “Anyone see these? They were covered in an HDVee video a couple weeks ago. Probably another fake, but one of the more believable ones if you ask me.”
In the image, we can see the alleged Wind & Wave Generation 10 starters:
- Flufflap (Grass/Flying)
- Bubbimp (Water)
- Hissmoke (Fire/Poison)
Flufflap seems to be some sort of grass bat creature, Bubbimp is predictably a water monkey (that looks a little too close to Panpour and a real-life monkey), and Hissmoke is apparently a fire snake.
As is the case with many other leaks, people generally weren’t having it. “Please not another monkey,” a Reddit user wrote. Another mentioned, “I will be greatly disappointed if this is real. I’d still choose the fire type though.” “These seem cool if true” another one says.
However, most people aren’t convinced and have taken to roasting the designs. “No way imo I’ve seen so many Fakemon designs that look exactly like the fire one. Like a lot.”
Another stepped up to defend Bubbimp, who they say is underappreciated: “If it’s real, it’s likely based on the proboscis monkey from Indonesia. They have big weird noses and are great swimmers. The babies have blue skin that becomes pink as they mature. They can digest plant matter that’s toxic to other mammals, but it gives them hella gas. IMO this is potentially a really interesting and unique design with lots of personality,”

Even if these were real, I’d need to see some evolutionary tracks before I would commit to anything. I’ve been burned before on evolutionary forms, but at the end of the day, I’d probably gravitate to grass types, which I’ve picked for a first playthrough since the first generation of Pokémon.
We likely only have another month or so until we see what the 10th Generation of Pokémon has in store for us. Then we can compare and contrast what the leaks did right, and get some actual finalized designs to look over.
