At an event today, Rani Mukerji celebrated a special milestone of completing 30 years in cinema. The event, filled with nostalgia and fun conversations, saw Rani in a candid conversation with Karan Johar, who was the host. While the event was a celebration of her versatile career, it was a specific trip down memory lane that left the actress and the audience visibly emotional.

During the heartfelt chat, Rani broke down while remembering the early days of her career, specifically the filming of the 1998 classic Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. She expressed deep gratitude toward Karan Johar for believing in her when she was still finding her footing in the industry. Rani revealed that a defining moment in her career was when Karan insisted, she dub her own part for the role of Tina.

This gesture held immense importance for Rani because of her previous experience. She explained how special the moment was for her since her original voice wasn’t used for dubbing in her movie Ghulam, which starred Aamir Khan opposite her. At that time, it was a common practice to have other artists dub for newcomers if their voices were considered unconventional, but Karan saw the uniqueness in Rani’s husky tone and stood by it.

Rani shared, as she got emotional, “Karan believed in my voice,” recalling how that faith and confidence changed the trajectory of her career. For an actor, the voice is as much a part of the performance as the expressions, and being allowed to use her own voice gave her the identity that fans have come to love over the last three decades.

The celebration served as a reminder of Rani’s incredible journey from a young debutante to one of the most respected performers in Bollywood. As the industry looks back at her 30-year legacy, fans are also looking forward to her future projects. On the work front, Rani is set to return to the big screen in one of her most powerful avatars. She will be next seen in Mardaani 3, which will release on January 30.
