Red Dead Redemption 2 may believe that Rockstar Games has pretty much abandoned the game’s online multiplayer component. And, well, that would be true, for the most part. But there are still a few reasons to get back into Red Dead Online now and then.
Rockstar Games is currently running a month of Christmas-themed weekly rewards. At the time of writing, you have just 24 hours left to claim the first week’s rewards before they’re swapped out.
Red Dead Online Players Have Under 24 Hours
Smoke ’em if you got ’em
From now until January 5, Rockstar Games has a series of special challenges for players to complete. Rise to the occasion, and you’ll net yourself a series of rewards that range from the “meh” to the genuinely pretty cool.
These are Red Dead Online‘s weekly rewards for December 2025
- December 2 – 8: Win in the Featured Series to receive a Reward for 3 Gold Bars
- December 9 – 15: Hunt a Legendary Animal to receive a Reward for the Bluewater Marsh Treasure Map
- December 16 – 22: Complete 3 Role Challenges to receive a Reward for a Free Ability Card
- December 23 – 29: Complete 3 Daily Challenges to receive a Reward for the Calumet Ravine Treasure Map
- December 30 – January 5: Complete Cripps Daily Stew Challenge to receive an Offer for 50% off an Established or Distinguished Naturalist Role Item
You’ve probably noticed the date (December 8) and just realized this means you have 24 hours left for the three gold bars reward before the next challenge comes in tomorrow.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Still Has It
There’s more to see and do
If the weekly rewards aren’t quite your cup of tea, there’s plenty more to do in Red Dead Online this month. You can, for instance, claim some limited-time clothing options: the Winter Shotgun Coat, Benbow Jacket, Leavitt Jacket, Furred Gloves, and Pelt Half Chaps.
There’s also 2X RDO$, XP, and Gold on A Merry Call to Arms in December, with a new standoff at Fort Wallace and nine returning maps, all paying out double rewards until January 5. You’ll also be able to receive the Red Morning Tail Coat for reaching Wave 4 and earn an Offer for 10 Gold Bars off any Role Initiation Item by reaching Wave 8 this month.
“Elsewhere on the frontier, holiday cheer abounds as winter intensifies throughout the month. Visit your Camp, Moonshine Shack, and even the cobbled streets of Saint Denis to enjoy a bit of festive ambience. For those more naughty than nice, the Krampus Shotgun variant also returns for the holidays. “
While probably not the big, exciting Red Dead Redemption 2 update fans have been begging for, this should be enough to keep Red Dead Online players happy and engaged over the Christmas period. Or maybe not. What do I know, really?
