All the details about Honkai: Star Rail 3.8 have been officially revealed by developer HoYoverse, including the update’s release date, its new character, the banner lineup for the period, story updates, and more. Version 3.8 is expected to be the final patch this year and will be the one that precedes the arrival of Version 4.0, which will take players to a new destination. There have already been some leaks about the following patch, like Himeko’s new form in Honkai: Star Rail 4.0.

However, there have also been rumors about how Honkai: Star Rail 4.0 may be delayed by up to four weeks, according to some leakers. Regardless of that, however, the turn-based RPG has yet to go through the contents of Version 3.8, which will introduce a brand-new playable character and story missions that connect to some events in the past, including the attack on the Ever-Flame Mansion headquarters.

The Update Arrives In Mid-December

Following the conclusion of the Honkai: Star Rail 3.8 livestream, HoYoverse confirmed the official release date for the next patch. According to the company, Version 3.8 will arrive on December 17. This means that, for now, the game is on schedule and the next update hasn’t suffered any delays, as the current one is sticking to its six-week duration.

With the release date having been announced, it’s unlikely that the patch will be pushed back in any way. Usually, when HoYoverse is set on postponing a patch, it tends to delay the respective livestream, too. Because of this, you can safely expect to start playing Version 3.8 on December 17 – or late December 16, depending on your region.

Claim Up To 300 Free Stellar Jade

During the special event, HoYoverse also gifted players with three Honkai: Star Rail 3.8 livestream codes. These limited codes can be redeemed for a variety of in-game rewards, such as Credits, Character EXP Materials, and most importantly, Stellar Jade. In total, three codes were provided, and if you redeem all of them before they expire, you can have access to 300 free Stellar Jade.

In order to gain access to the rewards, the livestream codes must be redeemed before they expire. This can be done with one of two different methods. The first of them is through the official Honkai: Star Rail website, where you’ll be required to log in with your account. The other is through the game itself via the Redemption Code feature. All rewards from livestream codes are sent to your in-game mailbox, from which they must be claimed.

The Dahlia Makes Her Unlikely Debut As A Super Break Support

As was previously teased and abundantly leaked, The Dahlia is the new playable character being introduced with Version 3.8. The Dahlia is confirmed to be a 5-star Fire character on the Path of the Nihility. This character from the former Ever-Flame Mansion faction had previously had her kit leaked, but now HoYoverse has confirmed what she does in battle. The Dahlia in Honkai: Star Rail is a support for Super Break DMG team comps.

As such, you can use her to improve parties led by Firefly, Boothill, or Rappa. The Dahlia can deploy a zone, and while enemies are within that zone, they take Super Break DMG, even if they haven’t had their Weakness broken. This significantly improves the value of the aforementioned DPS units, all of whom are specialists in that type of DMG. Despite being strong, Super Break DMG teams lost a bit of value this year with the arrival of Amphoreus characters.

However, The Dahlia’s release may represent a comeback for them. At the same time, nonetheless, she may also powercreep Ruan Mei in Honkai: Star Rail, who was still being used as a key character in Super Break DMG team comps. With The Dahlia’s arrival, Ruan Mei seems like the most logical character to remove from parties, as players will retain the Harmony Trailblazer, Fugue, and the main DPS.

HoYoverse also confirmed the structure of the character banners in Version 3.8.

There Will Be Events To Farm Stellar Jade For New Characters

While the main story arc set on Amphoreus has come to an end with Version 3.7, the upcoming patch will still get story updates. As was shown by the developer, the story quests will revolve around Firefly and Penacony instead. There will also be a new boss in Honkai: Star Rail 3.8, which connects directly to Firefly’s past.

In addition to the main story content, which HoYoverse didn’t detail too much so as not to spoil the experience, players will have a plethora of side activities and events to participate in during the period. If adequately played, they will be able to net a large sum of Stellar Jade, which will inevitably help them obtain The Dahlia or, potentially, save resources for the first characters from the next destination in Honkai: Star Rail.
