Roger Waters says he has no regrets about the critical comments he made about Ozzy Osbourne in the immediate aftermath of the metal legend’s death.
During an interview with “The Independent Ink” last August, the former Pink Floyd member took several swipes at the Black Sabbath legend. “Ozzy Osbourne, who just died, bless him in his whatever state that he was in his whole life. We’ll never know,” said Waters. “Although he was all over the TV for hundreds of years with his idiocy and nonsense. The music, I have no idea. I couldn’t give a fuck.”
Waters added, “I don’t care about Black Sabbath, I never did. Have no interest in biting the heads of chickens or whatever they do. I couldn’t care less, you know.”
Osbourne’s family were swift to respond to Waters. “Hey Roger Waters, fuck you,” countered Ozzy’s son, Jack, on social media. “How pathetic and out of touch you’ve become. The only way you seem to get attention these days is by vomiting out bullshit in the press. My father always thought you were a cunt. Thanks for proving him right.”

Ozzy’s wife, Sharon, described Waters as “sick in the head,” adding that, “He is not relevant in today’s world. Nobody likes him. It’s not just us. Nobody likes this man. … unless you’re a fascist,”
The family also took a dig at Waters by a releasing an “Another Prick in the Wall” t-shirt, which depicted Ozzy urinating rainbows on what appeared to be Waters’ The Wall: Live in Berlin album.
Now, Waters has addressed the criticism from the Osbourne family during an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored. “Those comments, I’m not denying that I said them, came in the middle of a long interview,” Waters explained. “Do I have to like every rock group there ever was in the world or people who bite the heads off bats?”
When pressed by Morgan on whether he owed the family an apology, Waters said he would “certainly not” give one to Sharon, because “she is a raging Zionist” and has “accused me of all kinds of things because she is part of the Israeli lobby.”
However, Waters continued, “if Jack, if he wants to have a chat, I’ll have a chat, and I won’t be nasty to him. Well, I’m, you know, yeah, I’m sorry you lost your dad, Jack, but this is like, you have conversations about things and about people, what do you think?”
Waters added, “Well, not a lot. I was honest. I said I didn’t like Black Sabbath… I don’t like people who bite the heads off bats. I just don’t. I think it’s disgusting, and I’ve said that again now.”
“I know he’s dead, and he can’t come back and go, ‘Yeah, I’m sorry I bit the heads off bats,’ if he ever did. Who knows whether he did or not? I don’t want to talk about it.’”
Ultimately, Waters concluded, “I regret nothing in life, accept that I haven’t been more successful in getting people to understand that we as a human race recognise and empathise with all of our brothers and sisters all over the world and make certain that they have equal human rights one with another under international law.”
“If you’re really empathetic, you don’t do that to a family when they’ve lost someone they love.”
