    Main League Baseball Corridor of Famer Ryne Sandberg has died.

    The Chicago Cubs simply introduced the unhappy information … writing in a put up on X the previous second baseman handed away on Monday following a prolonged battle with prostate most cancers.

    He was 65 years outdated.


    “Ryne Sandberg was a hero to a era of Chicago Cubs followers and might be remembered as one of many all-time greats in almost 150 years of this historic franchise,” Cubs exec Tom Ricketts mentioned in a press release.

He was immensely happy with his teammates and his position as a worldwide ambassador of the sport of baseball, however most of all, he was happy with Margaret, his youngsters and his position as husband, father, and grandfather.”

    Sandberg — whose No. 23 is retired by the Cubs — introduced in January 2024 he had most cancers, however in August of that very same 12 months, he mentioned therapy had cured him.

    Sadly, in December, he revealed his most cancers had returned.

    The Cubs — who have been shedding to the Brewers in a street sport when Sandberg’s passing was introduced — are planning to put on a jersey patch to honor the late celebrity for the remainder of the season.
