Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan shared a heartfelt message for cricketer Andre Russell after he announced his retirement as a player from the Indian Premier League. Russell, who has been one of the most loved players of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), posted a video on social media on Sunday, confirming his decision to step away from playing. His announcement left fans emotional, but it also marked the beginning of a new chapter for him within the same team.
Soon after Andre Russell shared his retirement video, Shah Rukh Khan responded with a touching note filled with respect, love, and admiration. Russell, who has been associated with KKR for several years, will now take up a different role as the team’s power coach.

He continued to praise the all-rounder for the energy and passion he brought to the field, calling him a key part of the team’s identity. Writing about Russell’s shift to coaching, the actor added, “And here’s to another chapter in your fantastic journey as a sportsman… The power coach – passing down the wisdom, the muscle and of course the power down to our boys in purple and gold… And yes, any other jersey would indeed look weird on you my man… Muscle Russell for life! In his video, Russell shared that he had many discussions with CEO Venky Mysore and Shah Rukh Khan before taking this decision. While the cricketer was released by KKR recently after a dip in performance numbers, he still remains one of the most impactful players in IPL history. Fans warmly call him “Muscle Russell” for his powerful batting and unforgettable match-winning moments.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh was last seen in the films Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki. He also made a cameo in his son Aryan Khan’s debut series The Ba*ds of Bollywood”**. SRK is currently shooting for King, directed by Siddharth Anand, also starring his daughter Suhana Khan, actor Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in the key roles.
