Vishal Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor’s long awaited reunion O Romeo is all set to arrive in theatres this February, and the recently released trailer gives a gripping glimpse into its dark and emotional world. Shahid plays Romeo Ustara, a fierce, conflicted gangster shaped by love and violence, in a rugged new avatar. Set in Mumbai’s underbelly, the film promises an intense blend of romance, action and raw emotion, told through Bhardwaj’s distinct storytelling style.

Their relationship unfolds through silences, restrained emotions, and unspoken longing, adding depth to the narrative. Inspired by true events, O Romeo explores love and brutality side by side, drawing viewers into Ustara’s turbulent journey.
At the press conference, Shahid spoke candidly about working with Vishal Bhardwaj, calling every collaboration “a very very adventurous, crazy journey.” He added, “As he said, maybe he met me while I was in exile. What he couldn’t do with dad, maybe he is doing with me.” Shahid admitted he was initially intimidated, saying, “He has worked with the best actors in the country. So when I got the opportunity to work with him, I actually asked him first, ‘Sir, why are you taking me in this role? I have not done anything to deserve this.’” Recalling Vishal’s response, he shared, “He said, ‘But I feel that I see something that you can.’ That’s what’s coming in.”
Reflecting on their journey together, Shahid said, “After that he gave me Haider, which is a role which all the actors in the world who like to act know is the most intimidating role. Then we did Rangoon and now we are doing O Romeo. So I feel fortunate to be a part of his filmography, and I am thankful to him that he called me after seven or eight years of us not having worked together.”
O Romeo reunites Vishal Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor after over eight years and also marks Triptii Dimri’s first collaboration with them. The film features an ensemble cast including Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Disha Patani, Aruna Irani, Vikrant Massey, Farida Jalal and Tamannaah Bhatia and is scheduled to release on February 13, 2026.
