Kai Slater, of the Chicago rock trio Lifeguard, has introduced a brand new album from his bed room pop challenge Sharp Pins: Balloon Balloon Balloon is out November 21 (through K/Perennial). Beneath, watch director Grace Bader Conrad’s colourful music video for lead single “(I Wanna) Be Your Girl.”
Slater labored on his new album between January and Could of this yr. He recorded it at his Chicago residence and with Hayes Waring on the producer’s Olympia, Washington, studio, Cell Management.
Slater launched his first Sharp Pins album, Turtle Rock, in 2023, through his personal Hallogallo Tapes label. The following yr, he self-released Radio DDR, earlier than it acquired an expanded re-release, through Ok and Perennial, in March.
Slater handles guitar and vocals in Lifeguard. He’s joined within the band by bassist, baritone guitarist, and vocalist Asher Case and drummer and synthesizer participant Isaac Lowenstein. Lifeguard launched their debut studio album, Ripped and Torn, in June.
