Sirai Trailer Promises A Tense Road Bound Drama For Vikram Prabhu’s Milestone Film

The trailer of Sirai, marking Vikram Prabhu’s twenty-fifth film as a lead actor, was unveiled on Friday and it offers a gripping look at a police escort drama rooted in real events. Directed by debutant Suresh Rajakumari, the film positions itself as a tense character driven narrative that unfolds almost entirely on the road, powered by moral conflict and escalating danger.

Vikram Prabhu plays a member of the Armed Reserve assigned to escort Abdul Rauf, portrayed by Akshay Kumar, a murder accused who must be produced before the Sivagangai court. What begins as a routine transfer soon turns into a test of resolve, conscience, and survival. The trailer establishes a cold and distant dynamic between the cop and the prisoner, hinting at unspoken judgments and personal biases that accompany the uniform.

A journey that spirals out of control

As the escort progresses, Sirai shifts gears dramatically. Midway through the journey, Abdul manages to escape with a rifle in hand, triggering chaos within the police force and raising the stakes for everyone involved. The trailer suggests that this is not merely a chase, but a psychological duel between two men bound together by circumstance.

Interspersed with the tense present day narrative are flashback sequences that shed light on Abdul’s past. These glimpses focus on a romantic relationship that appears to have played a key role in the events leading to his arrest. Rather than spelling out answers, the trailer keeps its cards close, hinting that the truth may be far more complicated than the charges suggest. The emphasis on Sirai being inspired by a true incident lends the drama an added layer of weight and realism.

Vikram Prabhu’s performance, as suggested by the trailer, leans into restraint. His character is defined less by loud heroics and more by internal conflict, a man torn between protocol and an emerging sense of moral unease. Akshay Kumar, meanwhile, appears to bring a volatile intensity to Abdul, oscillating between vulnerability and menace.

A familiar creative team with a fresh voice

Sirai reunites Vikram Prabhu with Tamizh, who has written the story and co-written the screenplay. Tamizh previously collaborated with the actor on Taanakkaran, a police drama that earned critical attention for its raw portrayal of systemic issues within the force. While Tamizh made his directorial debut with that film, Sirai marks the directorial debut of Suresh Rajakumari, who shares writing duties on the screenplay.

The film is produced by SS Lalit Kumar under the banner of Seven Screen Studios, with LK Vishnu Kumar serving as co producer. Arun K and Manikandan come on board as executive producers, while Arosam is credited as the creative producer. Akshay Kumar, who plays Abdul, is also the son of producer SS Lalit Kumar, adding a personal milestone to the project.

The supporting cast includes Anishma Anilkumar, who makes her Tamil debut with Sirai, and Anantha in a key role. Music for the film is composed by Justin Prabhakaran, whose work often leans toward emotionally grounded themes. The technical team features Madhesh Manickam as director of photography, Philomin Raj as editor, and Raghava Sanjivi as production designer, suggesting a grounded visual and narrative approach.

Sirai is set to release in theatres on December 25, where it will face competition from Kombuseevi starring Shanmuga Pandiyan and Sarath Kumar, and Arun Vijay’s Retta Thala. With its intense premise and realistic tone, Sirai is positioning itself as a serious alternative amid festive releases.
