Sukuna’s Malevolent Shrine Is Way, Way Stronger Than Jujutsu Kaisen Lead On

Jujutsu Kaisen is a rare shōnen in that it has no shortage of amazing villains, and there are none that stand above the King of Curses himself, Ryomen Sukuna. He’s one of the most vicious, bloodthirsty, unforgiving villains in anime, and he’s got an arsenal of unreal abilities up his sleeve.

Sukuna doesn’t get a lot of screen time in Jujutsu Kaisen. If he did, the series would be a lot shorter because he would kill the entire roster of characters without much effort. He’s the undisputed strongest villain in the series, and there’s a decent argument to be made that he’s the strongest character in the entire franchise.

Several Jujutsu Sorcerers in the series have access to a Domain Expansion, an advanced barrier technique that is widely considered to be one of the strongest techniques around. Not only is Sukuna’s Malevolent Shrine, his Domain Expansion, unreasonably strong, but the series has barely scratched the surface of what it can do.

Sukuna Is One of the Best Villains in Anime

He’s One of the Few Characters Who Has Earned His Arrogance

Sukuna and Megumi as seen in season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen

Sukuna is undoubtedly one of the best villains in the entire art form. He’s incredibly arrogant, but he’s earned it. He’s quite literally untouchable when he’s fighting, and only the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerers in the series can even survive more than a few moments against him.

Sukuna has access to a litany of the strongest abilities in the series, but his real strength comes from his lethality. He has no qualms killing anything and everything around him, and his instant decision-making makes him a major threat to anyone within a radius of his brutal presence.

Malevolent Shrine is his Domain Expansion, and it isn’t just an exceptional name: it’s the most powerful ability in his arsenal. He’s able to cut anything within 200 meters. It doesn’t matter if he’s trying to cut through an entire building or a brutally strong Sorcerer: he’s going to find his way through it all.

His Domain Expansion Deserves More Credit

He Could Destroy Most of Japan Without Even Trying

Sukuna’s Domain Expansion has been put on display a handful of times, but it still hasn’t been shown to its full extent. At its absolute peak, there might not be another ability in the entire franchise that can touch the Malevolent Shrine.

Gojo’s Domain Expansion, Unlimited Void, is also one of the strongest abilities in Jujutsu Kaisen. Even Gojo doesn’t hold a candle to Sukuna’s ability, as it’s the only one in the entire series that doesn’t operate within a border.

While Gojo’s ability is called Limitless, Sukuna’s Malevolent Shrine quite literally is. It’s the only Domain Expansion that doesn’t have set limits, stopping all of Sukuna’s enemies from canceling it by destroying a barrier. More of it will be shown in Jujutsu Kaisen season 3, and unfortunately for Yuji and his friends, there won’t be much they can do about it.
