The Super Mario Galaxy Movie just dropped a sneak peek at The Game Awards 2025, months ahead of its debut.
The animated film broadens the world of the massive Nintendo franchise and follows The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023), which grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide. Both movies are produced by Illumination’s Chris Meledandri and Nintendo game director Shigeru Miyamoto. Check out the teaser below:
The preview may be short, but it’s filled with action and has fans buzzing with excitement. In the sneak peek, Bowser Jr. traps Mario and Luigi inside what appears to be Princess Peach’s castle, wielding a paintbrush and telling them to hand over his dad. As revealed in earlier trailers, Bowser Sr. has been shrunk down and now resides in a tiny castle in Peach’s fortress.
Luigi tries to de-escalate the situation by introducing himself. Unfortunately, Bowser Jr. doesn’t want to be civil as he hits Mario after his brush transforms into a spiked ball. A brief altercation follows, with Luigi striking his opponent with his knee, a move that reminds many fans of the iconic Captain Falcon.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will feature several cast members from The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The returning actors are Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi), Jack Black (Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad), and Kevin Michael Richardson (Kamek). The upcoming film will also see some new faces, such as Brie Larson (Rosalina) and Benny Safdie (Bowser Jr.). There are also rumors that the movie will introduce some lesser-known Nintendo characters. However, none of them have been confirmed at the time of this article’s publication.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will premiere in theaters on April 3, 2026.
