The Hunting Wives season 2 has begun production, with Netflix confirming the return of three characters to the drama series. The Hunting Wives season 2 was announced by Netflix in September 2025, just two months after the show premiered on the platform. It quickly drew large viewership numbers and has received critical praise for its story and core performances.
Now, Netflix has confirmed The Hunting Wives season 2 is officially filming. The streamer also revealed that, in addition to previously announced cast members, Karen Rodriguez and Hunter Emery will be returning as Deputy Wanda Salazar and Deputy Walter Flynn. The pair will be coming back as series regulars, while Branton Box will return as Sheriff Johnny in a guest capacity.
The filming and casting announcement comes after it was revealed Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman will be returning as Sophie and Margo. Additional cast members previously confirmed include Jaime Ray Newman as Callie, Dermot Mulroney as Jed, Evan Jonigkeit as Graham, and George Ferrier as Brad. Check out the behind-the-scenes image announcing season 2’s filming start below:
The logline for The Hunting Wives season 2 states that “Sophie and Margo are on the outs,” but that “old secrets and new foes” cause them to come together again. It also asks whether they’ll be “the hunters or the hunted” as new events unfold.
Season 2 will run for eight episodes, just like season 1. Rebecca Cutter returns as showrunner, while Erwin Stoff for 3 Arts Entertainment and May Cobb, author of The Hunting Wives novel, return as executive producers.
The Hunting Wives season 1 ended by revealing Margo was behind Abby’s murder, silencing her to cover up her abuse of Brad. It’s unclear how this will add to the already complex relationship between Margo and Sophie, which the former is likely to continue taking advantage of as the show progresses. Whether she’ll face justice for what she’s done, though, remains unclear.
Netflix also confirmed additional cast members will be announced at a later date. However, Salazar and Flynn becoming regular characters for season 2 signals a deeper police presence in the upcoming episodes. This may tie into what brings Sophie and Margo back together, potentially involving the latter’s crimes. What will unfold isn’t certain yet, though.
With season 2 filming so quickly after season 1 premiered, it seems like The Hunting Wives is becoming a priority for Netflix. Given season 1’s quick success on the platform, boasting over 20 million views in its first five weeks only in the US, the show’s prioritization makes sense. It’s also a good sign the upcoming story will be a worthy follow-up.
