Vijay shared, “Our friendship took off immediately. We became very good friends, right from the word ‘go.’ Luckily for Fatty (Fatima Sana Shaikh) and I, we have the same sense of humour. She would finish my sentences. We would crack the same jokes but nobody would get it! We have a very twisted sense of humour. Our friendship helped us work on the scenes. Aisa kabhi nahi laga ki main usko kuch bol nahi sakunga. It wasn’t distant, courteous or professional. It was professional to a large degree. The banter was friendly. We were looking out for each other. That energy is what we carried throughout the film.”
Are they still friends? Vijay said, absolutely. He shared, “It became more pronounced after the movie got over. Usually, you make new friends in every set. You think you’ll be with them for the rest of your life but life happens. Very few people stay in your life. Fatty and I decided to be friends and we managed to stick to that.”
Vijay and Fatima will be seen sharing screen space in Vibhu Puri directed and Manish Malhotra produced Gustaakh Ishq. The movie is already garnering positive reviews for its heartfelt trailer. It also stars Naseeruddin Shah and Sharib Hashmi in leading roles. It is slated to hit the theatres on November 28, 2025.
