Death metal band Vitriol have effectively disbanded while on a North American headlining tour.

Vitriol’s now former guitarist, Keith Merrow, shared the news on his Instagram Stories. In his post, Merrow explained that he, bassist Brett Leier, and drummer Andy Vincenzetti abandoned frontman Kyle Rasmussen at a Vermont gas station because of his “weak outbursts of misplaced anger.”

“He fucked around and found out,” wrote Merrow in all caps. “Sorry Vitriol fans. We had to abandon him at a gas station in Vermont. Myself, Andy, Brett, and Matt will not take Kyle’s cowardly and weak outbursts of misplaced anger.”

After telling fans that the band “gave everything we had,” Merrow admitted that making the announcement was “the darkest day of my music career to date.”

Vincenzetti later shared his own personal statement on Instagram in the wake of Merrow’s announcement. “Onwards and Upwards,” wrote Vincenzetti. “Played some sick deathmetal and got to meet even sicker people.”

The news of the group’s presumable disbanding comes a few months after drummer Matt Kilner left the band. Last September, bassist Adam Roethlisberger exited the band mid-tour.

At the time, Rasmussen admitted in a statement that Roethlisberger’s leaving was “the straw upon the camel’s back of a long and difficult working relationship with myself. I can be a difficult person to work with.”

Vitriol’s tour kicked off on November 6th in Santa Cruz, California, with support from Weeping Death, and was set for remaining dates in Toronto, Chicago, and Denver. Their European tour in support of BÖLZER was supposed to start next February.
