A24 has released the trailer for Mother Mary, a new film from writer and director David Lowery featuring original music by Jack Antonoff, Charli XCX, and FKA twigs. The clip introduces the pop star Mother Mary (played by Anne Hathaway) as she navigates a reunion with her former costume designer Sam Anselm (portayed by Michaela Coel). Watch the trailer below.

Antonoff, Charli XCX, and FKA twigs wrote and produced music for Mother Mary. The songs are performed in the film by Hathaway. FKA twigs also acts in Mother Mary, as do Hunter Schafer, Atheena Frizzell, Kaia Gerber, Jessica Brown Findlay, Alba Baptista, Isaura Barbé-Brown, and Sian Clifford.

This isn’t the first or the last time Charli XCX has written music for an A24 film. “Hot Girl,” which she wrote with the 1975’s George Daniel, appeared in the production company’s 2022 murder mystery Bodies Bodies Bodies. Last month, Charli XCX shared the first teaser trailer for The Moment, the Aidan Zamiri–directed A24 movie that stars and was conceived by the pop star while touring behind Brat. (Charli XCX explained that “the seed of the idea was conceived from this idea of being pressured to make [a tour documentary]. It’s fiction, but it’s the realest depiction of the music industry that I’ve ever seen.”)

But, wait, there’s more! Charli XCX recently announced her Wuthering Heights album that accompanies Emerald Fennell’s upcoming film of the same name and released her John Cale collaboration “House” from that record. Plus, she’s also involved in Gregg Araki’s upcoming drama I Want Your Sex, a remake of the 1978 mondo horror film Faces of Death, and a Romain Gavras movie called Sacrifice that also stars Yung Lean.
