Here’s a look at the standout breakthrough performances on OTT in 2025.

Raghav Juyal took a bold leap with The Ba***ds of Bollywood, which marked Aryan Khan’s debut as a director. The series marked a significant departure from Juyal’s dancing and hosting background, allowing him to showcase his dramatic acting chops. His performance in this edgy series demonstrated his versatility and willingness to take risks.

Lakshya stars as Aasmaan Singh, an ambitious young actor navigating the chaotic world of Hindi cinema in The Ba***ds of Bollywood. Lakshya’s portrayal brings energy and earnestness to the lead role, balancing humour, vulnerability and boldness.

Avinash Tiwary plays Amay Mehta, a young architect whose already-strained relationship with his father is put to the test when they’re forced to spend 48 hours together. The film revolves around a father‑son dynamic marked by distance, unspoken grievances and unresolved emotions. Avinash’s performance was hailed by fans and critics alike.

Sparsh Shrivastava impressed audiences with his performance in Laapataa Ladies last year, and with Dupahiya, he reinforced his reputation as a bankable actor. In Dupahiya, he plays Bhugol Jha, one of the central young men of the fictional village of Dhadakpur, where the hunt for a mysteriously stolen motorbike upends long-held peace and tradition. His portrayal of Bhugol stands out for his comic timing and lively screen presence.


In Superboys of Malegaon, Sashank Arora portrays Shafique, one of the real‑life friends in a group of amateur filmmakers from Malegaon who set out to make their own film with limited resources and big dreams. Adarsh Gourav – Superboys of Malegaon

Adarsh Gourav’s performance in Superboys of Malegaon stood out for its sincerity. Playing a small-town dreamer with big ambitions, Gourav brought humour, heartbreak, and quiet resilience to the screen. Reviewers praised his naturalistic acting style, noting how he made the character feel deeply personal rather than performative.

Sanya Malhotra delivered one of her most talked‑about performances of the year in Mrs. She plays Richa, a trained dancer and dance teacher who enters married life with hope but soon finds herself struggling under the weight of traditional household expectations while trying to hold on to her dreams.

Monica Panwar stood out this year with her performance in Khauf, a horror thriller series. The show follows a young woman who moves to a new city and takes up residence in a women’s hostel, only to find herself drawn into a chilling confrontation with a supernatural force entwined with her past.


In Delhi Crime 3, the actress delivered one of her most gripping performances as the chillingly realistic human trafficker, Badi Didi. She brought a fresh energy to the ensemble cast alongside actors like Shefali Shah and Rasika Dugal.

The wait for Manoj Bajpayee to return as Srikant Tiwari in The Family Man Season 3, ended in November 2025. Bajpayee once again proved why he’s considered one of India’s finest actors, masterfully balancing the dual life of a middle-class family man and a high-stakes intelligence officer. His performance captured the vulnerability, wit, and determination of a man caught between protecting his nation and preserving his family, making it one of the most talked-about performances of the year.

Jaideep Ahlawat reprised his career-defining role as Inspector Hathiram Chaudhary in Paatal Lok Season 2, delivering what critics called a lesson in powerful performances. The second season saw Ahlawat build on the character’s journey with even greater depth and introspection. He had a nuanced portrayal of a Delhi cop pursuing justice while battling systemic apathy.

Karan Tacker – Bhay

Karan Tacker had a standout year, showcasing impressive range across genres. In Bhay, his portrayal of real-life paranormal investigator Gaurav Tiwary was marked by calm intensity and emotional control, earning praise for lending credibility to a challenging subject. He was also seen in Special Ops 2 this year, where he performed some impressive action stunts.
