    West Bengal Government Mandates Bengali Films to Be Screened During Prime Time in Cinema Halls

    A directive has been issued, which states, “In each cinema corridor, and in all screens (every display screen) of each multiplex located on this State, 365 prime time exhibits/screenings of Bengali movies shall mandatorily be held all year long, with no less than one Bengali present per day for all one year in the course of the 12 months.” It notes that every display screen, in single display screen theatres or multiplexes, will need to have one prime time slot per day for Bengali films.

    The choice has been taken to “encourage regional cinema and be sure that Bengali movies obtain sufficient publicity and industrial alternative of their residence state.” It’ll promote regional films and assist enhance the circumstances of the native movie business.
