Off-Campus
The steamy-hockey-romance niche has become wildly popular, against all odds. Consequently, Elle Kennedy’s Off-Campus series, which starts with The Deal, is coming to the small screen on Prime Video, with an expected 2026 release.
The story follows the hockey team and their love interests at Briar University. Each book follows a different couple like Bridgerton and Virgin River. As such, Off-Campus will begin with the romance between shy songwriter Hannah Wells and star player Garrett Graham, while also weaving in other romance stories.
One of the biggest reasons to be excited about Off-Campus is that author Elle Kennedy is providing entertaining behind-the-scenes updates on her TikTok. So far, everything about the show and cast looks amazing. What’s more, the cast, led by Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli, includes strong actors who can carry this ensemble show.

Every Year After
In 2022, author Carley Fortune debuted with her romance novel Every Summer After, which quickly became a New York Times Bestseller. Two years later, Prime Video optioned the rights to the story to make a TV show with the new title Every Year After.
The story follows Persephone “Percy” Fraser and Sam Florek, a couple experiencing their first love across six summers. However, their relationship falls apart. A decade later, Percy is brought back to Barry’s Bay, where she contemplates whether she can confront her past and rekindle her romance with Sam.
Every Year After will be a great follow-up to The Summer I Turned Pretty, as it explores first loves experienced during the summer in a small beachside town. What’s more, showrunner and executive producer Amy B. Harris of Sex and the City fame has plenty of experience with the onscreen romance genre, lending credibility to the show.

Before I Let Go
Kennedy Ryan’s USA Today bestselling novel Before I Let Go, which is the first book in the Skyland trilogy, won the prestigious Romance Writers of America RITA Award. Now it’s being developed into a TV show by Universal TV for Peacock, and we couldn’t be more excited.
The steamy and swoonworthy story follows Yasmen and Josiah, a divorced couple who are successfully co-parenting and running a business together. Despite their efforts to maintain a platonic relationship, they’re repeatedly drawn back together, leading them to ask whether they’re ready to let go of their romance.
While few details are available about the show, fans should still get excited for two big reasons. Firstly, Kennedy Ryan has periodically confirmed the show is still in the works, both on social media and in interviews. Secondly, the writing style of Before I Let Go has a cinematic quality, making it perfect for a TV show adaptation.

Wild Love
Earlier this year, Variety announced that Prime Video is developing Elsie Silver’s Rose Hill book as a TV show. The romance book series is anthological, following different characters and love interests in the idyllic, beautiful Rocky Mountain town of Rose Hill.
While it’s still early in development, Rose Hill should excite romance lovers for two big reasons. Firstly, one of the executive producers is Wyck Godfrey, whose bread and butter is book adaptations. When it comes to romance books, he worked on My Oxford Year; Love, Simon; and The Longest Ride.
What’s more, Rose Hill has many narrative similarities to the Virgin River books by Robyn Carr. As such, there’s a clear audience for the show. Plus, the TV adaptation of the latter romance series could serve as the framework for the upcoming Prime Video series.

They Both Die At The End
The hit YA romance novel They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera sparked a bidding war between five networks, and Netflix won the rights to the series in the end. The book takes place in a future where everyone receives a phone call notifying them that they have only 24 hours left.
The story follows Mateo and Rufus, two strangers who meet on an app and decide to spend their final 24 hours together. As they spend their final hours together, a romance starts to bloom between the two young men. They Both Die At The End is funny, tragic, intelligent, and romantic.
The premise is a great foundation for a TV show, and the upcoming adaptation is only made more exciting by the fact that there’s now a prequel and a sequel. The show can use information from those books to flesh out the world. What’s more, Silvera is working together with Chris Van Dusen, who worked on Bridgerton, to bring it to life.

Cleat Cute
Anyone who shipped Jess and Jules in Bend It Like Beckham needs to get excited for the TV adaptation of Cleat Cute by Meryl Wilsner. The 2023 Sapphic sports romance book was optioned by A Touch More, the production company created by WNBA’s Sue Bird and NWSL’s Megan Rapinoe.
The story follows Grace Henderson, a star soccer player on the US Women’s National Team who gets sidelined after an injury, and her rival Phoebe Matthews, the sunny up-and-comer who takes her spot. Despite their rivalry, one kiss completely changes the game for them.
Playing the Field, the TV adaptation of Cleat Cute, is already exciting because of Rapinoe’s involvement. Rapinoe is a legendary LGBTQ+ soccer player who has won the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Ballon d’Or Féminin, and the 2019 Best FIFA Women’s Player award. She has the lived experience to tell the story of Playing the Field.
4
The Five-Star Weekend
After the success of The Perfect Couple, it’s not surprising that Peacock jumped at the opportunity to adapt author Elin Hilderbrand’s book The Five-Star Weekend. While they share many themes, The Five-Star Weekend‘s contemporary fiction storyline is nothing like the mystery book.
The story follows a successful food critic whose life is shattered after a devastating loss. To find herself again, she decides that she’ll go on a weekend trip with friends from different stages of her life to her Nantucket home. While The Five-Star Weekend isn’t strictly a romance book, a romance plotline is heavily featured alongside the friendship story.
The Five-Star Weekend should excite audiences because the show will feature an all-star cast, led by A-listers Jennifer Garner and Regina Hall. What’s more, the show should hit on all the right emotional notes since the series creator is Bekah Brunstetter, who led This Is Us.
3
Midnight Sun
After the release of Breaking Dawn Part 2, the Twilight Saga was finished, with no expectations for more adaptations. However, this changed in 2023 when Lionsgate announced they were shopping around a Twilight TV show. Information trickled out after that until Netflix confirmed in late 2024 that it would produce the animated Midnight Sun adaptation.
The story will tell the events of Twilight from Edward Cullen’s perspective, a 104-year-old vampire trapped in a teenage body who falls in love with a human named Bella Swan. The Midnight Sun TV show could be darker than the movies because of the shift in perspective from Bella to Edward.
What’s more, fans don’t have to wait and worry about whether Netflix will move forward with the project because it received a straight-to-series order, which means the streamer won’t need to see episodes before making a final decision.
2
Chestnut Springs
Wild Love isn’t the only Elsie Silver book series to be getting the television treatment. Shortly after news broke about Prime Video’s Wild Love show, Netflix acquired the rights to the Chestnut Springs books, a western romance series.
The anthological books follow different members of the Eaton family and their friends, who own a ranch in the small town of Chestnut Springs and fall in love. Each book follows a different main character, but the show will likely combine the stories into an ensemble piece.
Netflix already has the beloved show Virgin River under its belt, so there’s no doubt they can do Chestnut Springs justice. What’s more, the books are packed with steamy romances that will win over viewers.

Happy Place
Emily Henry’s romance books have become extremely popular because of the writer’s ability to expertly craft lovable yet flawed characters, witty banter, and compelling stories. Unsurprisingly, five out of her six books have been optioned by production companies. The only one set to become a TV show instead of a movie is Happy Place.
Emily Henry’s 2025 romance book Great Big Beautiful Life hasn’t been optioned as of the time of writing.
The story follows Wyn and Harriet, a seemingly perfect couple who broke up for a reason they won’t discuss. Because they don’t share this information with their best friends, they have to pretend to be a couple during the group’s yearly vacation.
While Happy Place is generally regarded as Henry’s weakest book, there are still reasons to be excited about the show. The storyline requires more time to breathe, so a show will work better than a movie. What’s more, Henry has described onscreen adaptations as collaborative, suggesting she’ll be open to changes that could strengthen the romance story.
