The much-awaited title of SS Rajamouli, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Mahesh Babu’s film Varanasi was released today, along with a short teaser giving a glimpse of the spectacular visuals and adventure that we can expect from the movie. The announcement took place at the Globetrotter event on November 15 in Hyderabad in presence of the star cast. As soon as the title teaser dropped, fans took to the comment section to hail the filmmaker and Mahesh Babu’s look as Rudhra in the film. Several industry folks also praised Rajamouli for his vision.

Filmmaker Karan Johar shared Mahesh Babu’s character poster on Instagram’s story section and wrote, “Epic!!!! The one and only SS Rajamouli.”
Prashanth Neel also gave a shoutout to Rajamouli and wrote, “Take a bow, @ssrajamouli sir! @urstrulyMahesh looks absolutely charming. Super excited ✨ #GlobeTrotter.”
Meanwhile, during the event, Rajamouli introduced Mahesh Babu’s character, Rudhra, through an epic poster that received roaring applause. The filmmaker had already surprised fans earlier with the character posters of Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran, but Mahesh Babu’s reveal marked the biggest highlight of the evening.
The title visual takes viewers across different global landscapes before shifting dramatically to the Manikarnika Ghat in Varanasi. It is here that Mahesh Babu’s Rudhra makes his first appearance, riding a white bull and holding a massive trishul, setting the tone for the film’s theme and scale.
Varanasi is slated for a 2027 theatrical release and will reportedly premiere across 120 countries, marking one of the widest releases for an Indian film.
