Over the past few years, audiences got to rediscover talented actors through fresh content. We have seen experienced actors staging a comeback with new roles, which ended up making them loved and talked about yet again. Two big examples of this are Bobby Deol and Akshaye Khanna. Despite having limited screen time compared to the lead actor Ranbir Kapoor and no spoken lines, Bobby was immensely praised after his appearance in Animal (2023). Akshaye too showcased his screen presence as Rehman Dakait in Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, becoming a recent favourite online. Buzz is that they might just collaborate again, reportedly in a sequel to their 2002 film Humraaz.
Filmmaker Ratan Jain, who produced the film Humraaz starring Akshaye Khanna, Bobby Deol, and Ameesha Patel, recently discussed the possibility of a sequel in a new interview. During a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, when questioned about this, the filmmaker shared his thoughts, saying, “I can make Humraaz 2 if I get the right script for these two actors. We need to have scripts where they fit the part and have age-appropriate roles.” Speaking about Bobby and Akshaye, Ratan mentioned, “Bobby is a pleasure to work with and so is Akshaye. As for Akshaye, let him get settled for some time after this humongous success that he has seen. I’ll try to meet him. We are very good friends. He deserves better films.”
Ratan further added, “Akshaye has always been like this, very selective in his films. Money is secondary to him. If he’s not happy with the script, he’ll reject the film.” Currently, Akshaye is preparing for his upcoming film, Mahakali. Meanwhile, fans are eagerly awaiting his return in Dhurandhar 2, which will release on March 19. Bobby Deol, on the other hand, will be joining Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in Alpha.
