The weekend is finally upon us and what better way to celebrate than by diving into a brand-new or upcoming game that you have not had to pay a penny for. Well, that is possible thanks to PlayStation, which has just added another four incredible games to its library which can be tried out for absolutely free. From a narrative puzzle adventure title voiced by some of gaming’s biggest talents to a multiplayer combat game where you will take on the role of a Gladiator, and everything in between, this stack of new and exciting titles is guaranteed to have something to suit you. So, without further ado, let us take a look at what is up for grabs.

First up is Call of the Elder Gods, an upcoming puzzle game and sequel to 2020’s critically acclaimed Call of the Sea. Inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, Call of the Elder Gods will see you journey to the far corners of the earth and unearth ancient horrors using object and observation-based puzzles. Featuring a fully-voiced story about grief, family, and sanity, video game fans will be pleased to hear that some of the industry’s biggest names will be lending their talents. This includes: Yuri Lowenthal (Spider-Man, Arcane, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth) and Cissy Jones (Firewatch, Starfield, Baldur’s Gate III). The demo for Call of the Elder Gods is now free and available to check out courtesy of PlayStation 5. Better yet, it is now free to play fully courtesy of Xbox Game Pass.

However, if you are looking for something to play with friends, then you could check out the physics-driven chaos of Gladio Mori. Featuring “dismemberment, organ-specific damage, and a fully customizable move editor”, this multiplayer gladiator combat game will task you with fighting your way to glory either solo or by challenging others to multiplayer matches. Using brutal, yet tactical combat, you will be able to find the play-style and arsenal to best suit your needs, but be aware that every decision, swing, and attack will determine your path to victory.

If you are a fan of the media that has gifted us with the cutest robot companions over the years, then you will want to check out Mashina. Set in a stop-motion world, you will take on the role of a little robot fighting to repair her world. By digging, building, and discovering, you will be able to mend your environment in a chill and relaxing indie adventure. Our robot protagonist, Mashina, will do whatever it takes to help her quirky robot community, even if that means switching between the game’s two distinct environments: a stunning and fully explorable 3D surface, and the deep, mysterious underground full of trinkets and mysteries.

Last, but by no means least, is Tides of Tomorrow. Launched just last month but available to check out courtesy of a free demo, this narrative adventure from the makers of Road 96 will see you “follow in your friends’ footsteps, face the consequences of their actions and choose the fate of this plasticpunk world.” With your every choice directing the way the story plays out, your choices will also shape the story for other players, making this a truly groundbreaking gaming experience. By using the “Online Story-Link” feature, you will be able to feel the impact of other players’ choices, as well as being able to leave your own mark for those who come after.

All of these games and hundreds more are free to try out on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 right now, so do not miss out on your chance to try before you buy!
