November 17 Is Officially A Dark Day For PlayStation Plus

As much as Sony isn’t having a great time at the moment from a public relations perspective (understandably so with their position on physical media), they remain a huge player in the industry. For the current generation at the very least, there are plenty of players who are locked into the PlayStation 5, and a big portion of those are signed up to PlayStation Plus.

The latter subscription service remains a really solid option for those who want to have a broad range of games to play, without having to buy them all individually. It’s also a crucial part of the multiplayer scene, and a requirement to participate in the social aspects of many current games.

The only real hazard with playing on PS Plus is that any of the games currently available could be removed the following month, with very little in the way of warning. Now, we know which games will be going away in November, and there are some major losses that will undoubtedly come as a disappointment to many.

As reported by gg.deals, PlayStation Plus is going to be losing eleven games in November, and some of them are absolutely massive titles that still see millions of players per month.

The full list of games leaving PlayStation Plus on November 17 is as follows:

    • Cricket 24 (PS4, PS5)
    • Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair (PS4)
    • Football Manager 26 (PS5)
    • Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, PS5)
    • Hotshot Racing (PS4)
    • Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom (PS4, PS5)
    • Rapala Fishing Pro Series (PS4)
    • Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break (PS4)
    • Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4)
    • The Talos Principle 2 (PS5)
    • Yet Another Zombie Defense HD (PS4, PS5)

The biggest hitters on there are obviously Rockstar’s two flagship efforts in Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2. The former is leaving because Grand Theft Auto VI is about to enter the fray for the first time, and the developer/publisher will want as many players pushed towards purchasing that as possible.

The thinking is likely the same or similar for Arthur Morgan’s adventures in the Old West, as it does scratch a similar itch to GTA from a playstyle perspective.

Football Manager 26 is another notable big name on the chopping block, with no word on why that’s happening at this juncture. That likely means it’s simply a case of the original agreement drawing to a close, which is further evidenced by the game’s release date in November of last year. FM27 is also on the way shortly, though it isn’t debuting on PS Plus as far as we know at this juncture.

Regardless of what is happening with PlayStation Plus specifically in November, it’s going to be a huge month thanks to the arrival of GTA VI. The PlayStation 5 is the official partner hardware of the game, which will only help that further, and if the absurd pre-order rumors are true, every gaming company even tangentially involved is in for a huge next month or so.
