New York-based electronic duo Ear have a new album on the way. Rumspringa is out May 29 on their new label, A24 Music, and arrives with plenty of mystery. They have yet to share a track list, album artwork, or music, but they have detailed an ethos behind the album, calling it a ““choose life’ record” in a press statement. The announcement follows the release of a new song, “Ne Plus Ultra,” earlier this month.
Ear’s Jonah Paz and Yaelle Avtan met in 2024 while attending Bard College, bonding over a shared interest in British post-punk and IDM. “[Our] sound is so funny because we both realised, after talking about music for two days straight, that we had a vision for a type of music that should be made right now,” Avtan told the Face in March of the band’s formation. Paz added: “The way we make music is basically looking over to the other to see what facial expression they’re making.”
The duo released their first official single “Nerves,” in 2024, which they followed up with a debut album, The Most Dear and the Future, in 2025. Paz also formed a solo project, Sacred Holes, in 2025.
