Sam, Jay, and the rest of Woodstone Mansion now look forward to what’s next in Ghosts season 6. CBS’ 2025-2026 schedule for the hit comedy series was eventful, with several periods of highs and lows, both for the living and their spirit friends residing in the iconic property. The year started with a big twist involving Carol being sucked off after attempting to save Jay and Pete from Elias’s schemes. A whole season later, the ensemble is moving forward.
One of the biggest recurring themes in Ghosts season 5 was Woodstone Mansion being in crisis. Sam and Jay had to be on top of every issue, whether that was a threat coming to their livelihood and residence or something involving the spirits. Either way, some of the events of the previous year will likely factor in what comes next for the ensemble.
Ghosts Season 6 Has Already Been Confirmed By CBS
As one of CBS’s top comedies, it came as no surprise that Ghosts is returning for season 6. Unlike its peers, however, its renewal happened way earlier, as the network awarded the show a rare multi-year order back in 2025. This means that, aside from the 2025-2026 cycle, the show has long been confirmed to return for the 2026-2027 year. The early renewal is an indication of CBS’s confidence in Joe Port and Joe Wiseman’s series. Beyond that, it also allowed the writers to craft a Ghosts season 5 finale without the fear of not being able to address any lingering cliffhanger.
Ghosts Season 6 Is Delayed To 2027
Ever since it premiered in 2021, Ghosts has been a staple of CBS’s opening premieres every year. That’s about to change, however, for the 2026-2027 TV cycle. As confirmed by CBS’s official fall 2026 schedule, Ghosts season 6 is delayed to midseason, meaning that the show won’t be back from its mandatory annual break until 2027. This is to give way to its accompanying series, Eternally Yours, from the Port and Wise, as well. Despite the delay, Ghosts season 6 will release special one-hour Halloween and Christmas specials. Unlike other shows pushed to the midseason, it will also retain a full-season order.
What Ghosts Season 6’s Story Could Be
Ghosts season 5 found a way to bring back several familiar faces while also introducing new guest stars. Characters like Bela, Kyle, and Mark have all become more prominent in the past year, and unless there’s a change in how the show approaches its stories, it’s safe to say that they will continue to be part of the series, especially since they know Sam’s secret powers. One particular plot, however, that everyone is curious about is the possibility of a main spirit finally passing on. This was the main cast’s goal when Sam and Jay moved into Woodstone, and after five years, seeing a primary ghost being sucked off is already long overdue.
CBS Kills An Original Ghosts Character For The Very First Time
Five years since it premiered, CBS finally says goodbye to an original character from the Woodstone Mansion in Ghosts season 5, episode 14.
Whether that’s in the cards for Ghosts season 6 is currently uncertain. The show has done a great job expanding its lore by doing more creative episodes. Their Christmas and Halloween specials have always been a hit — something that might be the perfect crossover avenue with Eternally Yours this fall.
