Actor Saswata Chatterjee has reportedly started shooting for Sourav Ganguly’s biopic, titled Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story, in Mumbai. Based on the life of the former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly, Rajkummar Rao will be seen playing the role of the cricket legend. Now, as recent updates suggest, Saswata Chatterjee has joined the cast, and he will be seen as Sourav Ganguly’s father, Chandi Ganguly.
According to Bombay Times, Aparajita Auddy, who plays Sourav’s mother Nirupa, and Rahul Dev Bose, who plays his brother Snehasish, are also part of the current schedule. A source told the portal, “All three actors are currently shooting in Mumbai. Dada was present on set during the shoot on Sunday. The production team will shoot in Kolkata from the end of this month.”
Meanwhile, according to a report from News18, Rajkummar Rao, who recently embraced fatherhood, had earlier shared the official announcement on social media. He shared pictures from the set and wrote, “And it begins …The one and only #DADA @souravganguly @motwayne #LuvRanjan @gargankur82 @luv_films.”
He has also expressed his excitement about headlining the biopic. During her interaction with NDTV, he had said, “Now that Dada has already said it, let me also make it official – yes, I am playing him in his biopic. I am nervous… It’s a huge responsibility, but it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Rajkummar Rao was last seen in a Netflix film, Toaster, alongside Sanya Malhotra, Archana Puran Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Farah Khan, Upendra Limaye, Vinod Rawat, Jitendra Joshi, and Seema Pahwa. It was directed by Vivek Das Chaudhary and produced by Patralekhaa.
