Amitabh Bachchan’s weekly tradition of greeting his fans turned chaotic this week. A video from his recent Sunday darshan has gone viral on social media after a fan fainted outside his residence, leaving netizens worried and concerned.
Every Sunday, if Amitabh is in Mumbai, he makes it a point to step outside his Juhu bungalow to wave at the sea of fans gathered there. Lovingly called “Sunday darshan” by his fans, it is a routine where the actor thanks them for their continuous love. However, the gathering on May 24 took an unexpected turn due to a massive crowd and scorching heat.
In the circulating video, Big B is seen stepping out to greet the crowd in an all-white ensemble. Due to the heavy crowd and the massive heat, a fan lost consciousness and fainted. Nearby onlookers quickly jumped in to hold the individual, offer him water, and clear out some space. While the exact condition of the fan remains unknown, the incident has sparked widespread concern online, with many questioning the extreme lengths to which people go.
Reacting to the viral clip, social media users expressed their worry and disapproval. One user wrote, “Your well-being is more important than your favourite star.” Another netizen commented, “Itna importance dena hi kyun hai ki jaan pe aa jaye.” (Why give it so much importance over your own life ?)
The incident comes closely after intense speculation around the veteran actor’s health. Last week, it was reported that Amitabh Bachchan had been hospitalised since May 16 and was admitted to the VIP wing of a Mumbai hospital. However, reports have officially denied these claims. According to an ETimes report from Wednesday morning, the actor only visited Nanavati Hospital on Saturday for a routine monthly check-up and returned home immediately after.
A source clarified the situation, stating, “Mr Bachchan did visit Nanavati Hospital on Saturday; however, it was a regular check-up, which he goes for every month, and he returned home after that.”
On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan will next be seen in the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin. The first part of the sci-fi epic, which also starred Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, became a major box office success, crossing Rs 1,000 crore worldwide.
