JAY-Z Brings Out Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Too $hort at Final JAŸ-Z30 Show

JAY-Z closed out his “JAŸ-Z30 Tour” with a proper West Coast-heavy finale on Saturday night, welcoming Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Too $hort to the stage during the second of two sold-out shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Hov opened the October 24th concert with “The Watcher 2” before quickly bringing out Too $hort for “Blow the Whistle.” From there, he worked through a career-spanning set including “Izzo (H.O.V.A.),” “Run This Town,” “Dead Presidents,” “99 Problems,” and “Dirt Off Your Shoulder.”

Later in the evening, JAY-Z turned the show over to a duo of Los Angeles rap royalty. Snoop Dogg first emerged for “Murder Was the Case,” before Dr. Dre joined him for a run of West Coast classics including “The Next Episode,” “California Love,” “Nothin’ but a ‘G’ Thang,” and “Still D.R.E.”

JAY-Z also paid tribute to the late Nipsey Hussle throughout the show, incorporating elements of “Hussle & Motivate” into “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)” and using the instrumental from “Last Time I Checc’d” during “On to the Next One.”

At another point in the night, JAY-Z addressed some of the online chatter surrounding the SoFi shows. “Y’all gotta be very aware what’s going on in the world, right? People will tell you that nobody was in here tonight, but you got eyes, you can see. People will tell you that the music wasn’t great, but you got ears. […] Question everything in this world of AI.”

The rapper ultimately brought the night — and his limited anniversary run — home with “Empire State of Mind,” “Big Pimpin’,” “Public Service Announcement,” and “Encore.”

The two-night SoFi stand followed JAY-Z’s anniversary shows in New York, London, and Paris, celebrating 30 years since Reasonable Doubt and 25 years since The Blueprint. Friday’s opening night at SoFi had its own guest list, with Blue Ivy Carter playing piano on “The Story of O.J.” and “Dead Presidents,” Scarface appearing for “This Can’t Be Life” and “Mind Playing Tricks on Me,” and John Legend and DJ Khaled joining Jay for “GOD DID.”
