Halo turns 25 this year, and Halo Studios is marking the occasion with a little bundle of freebies for anyone who still boots up Halo Infinite. For a franchise that helped define the Xbox brand and shaped an entire generation of shooters, a quarter-century mark is a big deal, even if this particular tribute is a modest one.

The studio is currently spending the whole year celebrating 25 years of Halo with look-backs at the series, and it’s encouraging fans to share their own memories on social media using the hashtag Halo25Together for a shot at getting featured in an official anniversary celebration. The actual reward, though, is what’s getting people’s attention.

How to claim 7 free items in Halo Infinite

Simply loading up Halo Infinite on your platform of choice at any point this year instantly unlocks a free Silver Anniversary customization bundle. You don’t have to purchase anything or grind through challenges: You just need to sign in. Note that you’ll need to own the base game to earn this reward.

If you’re wondering what’s actually in the bundle, it’s a decent haul of cosmetics:

    • A 25th Anniversary Nameplate, a throwback badge marking the milestone
    • The GEN XII Vehicle Coating, a gold paint job for your Warthog and other vehicles
    • The Access Denied Armor Coating, a black armor finish with wintergreen trim
    • The Lifegivers Hex Weapon Coating, a weapon skin
    • The Ring Breaker Weapon Charm, a small trinket you can attach to weapons at the Weapons Bench
    • Two nameplates tied to the story—the Zeta Emissary and Zeta Trailblazer—referencing the UEG teams that helped UNSC forces fight the Banished on Zeta Halo

None of these cosmetics affect gameplay, but it’s a nice, no-cost way for the studio to mark the milestone without asking anyone to open their wallet.

The catch, if you can call it that, is the deadline. Halo Infinite players have until December 31, 2026, to log in and claim the bundle before it presumably goes away. Compared to other “limited time” promotions, you have over four months from now to log in and grab seven items, which is a pretty generous window. At the same time, for a franchise turning 25, some fans might have expected something a bit bigger than three nameplates, three coatings, and a weapon charm. But something is better than nothing, right?

This kind of promotion fits a pattern studios have leaned on more over the past few years. Rather than a big paid anniversary edition, developers reward existing players just for showing up during a milestone year. It keeps the community engaged, and it gives Halo Studios an easy way to keep the iconic Halo Infinite in the conversation while fans wait for the upcoming Zeta Halo project to drop.

It’s also a smart move timing-wise. Halo Infinite has had a rough few years in terms of player numbers, and anniversary years are exactly the moment when lapsed fans tend to wander back to check in on a series they grew up with. A free bundle might be the kind of push players need to reinstall the game, even if just to see what’s changed since they last played.

For anyone who already has Halo Infinite installed, there’s essentially no reason to skip this. Log in once sometime before the end of the year, and the bundle is yours—no strings, no extra spending, no time limit beyond the one big deadline in December.
