The trailer for Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam is out now, offering a glimpse into the life and career of veteran public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, with a major focus on his role in the high-profile trial following the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
Directed by Avinash Arun and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, Prahaar stars Rajkummar Rao as Nikam, who served as the Special Public Prosecutor in the 26/11 case and led the prosecution in the trial of Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist captured during the attacks.
The trailer opens with visuals recreating the horror of the 26/11 attacks, beginning at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and moving across other locations in Mumbai that were targeted on November 26, 2008. The images are juxtaposed with Nikam’s voice as he asks a young girl to recall what happened in a courtroom.
From there, the trailer moves between the courtroom and the events surrounding the attacks, offering a glimpse into Nikam’s determination to build the case and bring those responsible to justice.
Sikandar Kher appears as a lawyer on the opposing side, while Wamiqa Gabbi plays Nikam’s wife. Jaideep Ahlawat also makes an appearance as part of a Pakistani delegation. The trailer further introduces Lalit Prabhakar as Ajmal Kasab, giving audiences a glimpse of the courtroom face-off between Kasab and Nikam. The film’s trailer was launched at CSMT, one of the locations targeted during the 26/11 attacks, on September 29.
