Amid all the hype for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and The Last of Us since The Last of Us Day, it seems that fans now have reason to be excited for the future of the Uncharted franchise, as well.
Indeed, while two new Last of Us projects may be in the works, Naughty Dog’s beloved fortune-hunting series may be ready for a comeback bout.
Per MP1st, a new Uncharted game is reportedly in development at Naughty Dog. If legitimate, this report also states that this new title would be led by Uncharted: The Lost Legacy’s Shaun Escayg, who was previously rumored to be helming an unannounced and unconfirmed entry in the franchise.
Of course, until anything official is shared, this is yet another grandiose rumor that should be taken with skepticism. Still, the stars are beginning to align, and Escayg himself has seemingly teased his connection to Uncharted in recent past.
There’s currently no telling whether this will be Uncharted 5 proper, with Cassie Drake taking over as the lead protagonist. Likewise, it could star Chloe Frazer or any number of excellent Uncharted protagonists.
In the meantime, it’s obvious that Naughty Dog’s plates are stacked, and only time will tell what direction each of its franchises are headed in.
More to follow.
