Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming film Pocket Novel has reached another milestone, with the makers announcing that dubbing has commenced. The film, directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, was announced earlier this year and subsequently went on floors. With production now wrapped up and post-production underway, the project is moving closer to its next stage.
Pocket Novel brings together an ensemble cast featuring Vijay Sethupathi, Raj B Shetty, Kishore and Malavika Mohanan. While details about the film’s plot and the characters played by the cast remain under wraps, the combination of actors and the director has generated interest in the project.
Pocket Novel wraps filming and begins post-production
The makers first announced Pocket Novel in February, following which the film commenced production. Malavika Mohanan later confirmed that she had completed filming her portions. The production team subsequently announced that the entire shoot had been wrapped up.
The latest update about the dubbing process indicates that the film has progressed further into post-production. With the principal photography completed, the team is now working towards bringing the project together for its eventual release. However, the makers have yet to announce a release date or reveal further details about the film’s narrative.
Pocket Novel marks another collaboration for Vijay Sethupathi, who has balanced mainstream projects with films that allow him to explore different kinds of characters. The actor has also worked across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi cinema, building a filmography that spans a range of genres and storytelling styles.

Thiagarajan Kumararaja, meanwhile, is known for his distinctive approach to filmmaking. His previous directorial ventures include Aaranya Kaandam and Super Deluxe, both of which earned attention for their unconventional narratives and ensemble casts. His association with Vijay Sethupathi has added to the anticipation surrounding Pocket Novel.
Vadhandhi creator Andrew Louis pens the screenplay
Pocket Novel features a crew comprising several established technicians. Andrew Louis, who created the crime thriller series Vadhandhi: The Fable of Velonie, has written the story and screenplay for the film. His involvement brings together a filmmaker known for unconventional cinematic storytelling and a writer with experience in the crime thriller space.
The technical team includes Nirav Shah as the director of photography, while Sathyaraj Natarajan has taken charge of editing. V Shanmugaraja serves as the art director, with Dhilip Subbarayan handling the action choreography. Ezhilmathy is the costume designer. Sathyaraj Natarajan also serves as an executive producer on the project, in addition to his editing responsibilities.
Although the makers have kept the film’s premise and other key details under wraps, the combination of Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s direction, Andrew Louis’ writing and a cast led by Vijay Sethupathi makes Pocket Novel a project to watch. With dubbing now underway, further announcements about the film could offer audiences a clearer picture of what to expect from the upcoming venture.
