Fahadh Faasil is gearing up for his next big-screen outing with Karate Chandran, the latest production from Bhavana Studios. The much-anticipated Malayalam film has officially gone on floors in Kottayam, with the makers conducting a pooja ceremony and the traditional switch-on event to mark the beginning of production. Announced some time ago, the project has generated considerable curiosity among film enthusiasts, particularly given the combination of talent involved both in front of and behind the camera.
Karate Chandran also marks the directorial debut of Roy, who has previously worked as a co-director on films associated with filmmaker Dileesh Pothan, beginning with Maheshinte Prathikaaram. With Fahadh leading the cast and a team of established names handling the writing and technical departments, the film represents another ambitious project from a production house that has developed a reputation for backing distinctive Malayalam cinema.
Fahadh Faasil Leads An Ensemble Cast In Karate Chandran
The film is being produced under the Bhavana Studios banner by Dileesh Pothan, Fahadh Faasil and Syam Pushkaran. The trio have collaborated on several notable Malayalam projects, making their latest venture one to watch. The film’s title had already attracted attention when it was announced, and the commencement of shooting now brings the project a step closer to the big screen.
Karate Chandran boasts a sizeable ensemble alongside Fahadh. The cast includes Vijayaraghavan, Johny Antony, Sudheesh, Renji Panicker, Gokul Suresh, Suresh Krishna, Spadikam George, Manohari Joy, Jaya Kurup and Manjushree Nair. While details about the characters and the film’s storyline remain under wraps, the line-up brings together performers with varied screen personas and experience across Malayalam cinema.
The screenplay, story and dialogues have been jointly developed by S. Hareesh and Vinoy Thomas, both of whom are associated with the film’s writing. Their involvement adds another point of interest to the project, with the combination of their writing sensibilities and Roy’s first outing as a director likely to draw attention as more details emerge.
Karate Chandran Has A 140-Day Shooting Schedule
The technical team features several familiar names from the Malayalam film industry. Rakesh Haridas has been brought on board as the cinematographer, while Kiran Das will handle editing. Justin Varghese, known for his work on films including Ajagajantharam and Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, will compose the music. Vivek Kalathil is the production designer, and Mashar Hamsa will oversee costumes. Makeup duties have been assigned to Ronex Xavier.
The makers have planned an extensive 140-day shooting schedule, with filming set to take place in Kottayam and its surrounding areas. The lengthy schedule indicates that the production will be spread across several months, although the makers have not yet announced a release date.
Karate Chandran arrives at a time when Bhavana Studios continues to build its slate of Malayalam films, with its projects attracting attention for their choice of collaborators and storytelling ambitions. With Fahadh Faasil at the centre of the narrative, a cast featuring several seasoned performers and Roy stepping into the director’s chair, the film has multiple elements that could make it a significant addition to the production house’s upcoming line-up.
