The trailer for Student of the Year: After Dark, starring Shanaya Kapoor in a double role, was recently launched at a college in Mumbai, with students cheering as they witnessed the return of the iconic campus in a darker avatar.
The series reimagines the popular franchise as a murder mystery set against the backdrop of fierce competition, ambition and rivalry. At the launch, Shanaya Kapoor spoke about approaching the project with a fresh perspective and making the familiar franchise her own.
Speaking about approaching the franchise, the actress said, “It’s a huge deal for me to be carrying this forward for the show, and for all of us to be a part of it. When I approached the script, I didn’t want to keep that baggage in my mind. I wanted to approach it as just a script that my director had given to me, and focus on how we were going to prepare for it and make this our own. I think the approach was quite tough because you have to consciously switch off those thoughts and not carry that baggage forward, because we are trying to make something new and something different and create a different voice for this franchise. And that’s the beauty of all the other three franchises.”
With Student of the Year: After Dark, the familiar world of St. Teresa’s takes a darker turn, bringing together a competitive campus environment and a murder mystery. Produced by Dharmatic Entertainment and directed by Reema Maya, the series explores what happens when the desire to succeed begins to come at a cost.
Student of the Year: After Dark will be released on JioHotstar on November 13.
