Reacher can’t be stopped on streaming.
Based on the Lee Child book series, the Prime Video action thriller show premiered in 2022, introducing Alan Ritchson as hulking hero Jack Reacher. After achieving consistent viewership success with audiences, the franchise expanded with the Neagley spinoff series, all eight episodes of which dropped on September 16.
More than a month removed from both Reacher season 4 and Neagley season 1, the Nielsen numbers (via Variety) are now in, and the franchise is dominating the streaming TV landscape. Between September 1–26, Reacher was the most-watched original streaming series, hitting 4.6 billion minutes viewed.
Ted Lasso came in second place with 3.6 billion minutes, but the Reacher franchise is close behind. In third place, Neagley clocked an impressive 3.3 billion minutes, meaning the franchise cleared 7.9 billion minutes streamed for the month of September.
Rounding out the rest of the top five are Lioness (3.3 billion minutes) and Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story (3.1 billion minutes). Check out a chart below of the full top 10 streaming originals.

Reacher season 4‘s streaming domination accompanied strong reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, the season enjoys a glowing 92% critics’ score, with the adaptation of Child’s Gone Tomorrow earning points for its consistently entertaining action and the brutal simplicity of Ritchson’s hero. Interestingly, the audience-driven Popcornmeter is lower than past seasons at only 64%, but this evidently didn’t have a big impact on viewership.
Neagley, too, was well received. The spinoff, which stars Maria Sten as Frances Neagley, has a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, with the Popcornmeter also strong at 82%. The show’s performance was enough for Prime Video to give the green light to a Neagley season 2.
A sophomore outing for the spinoff will accompany Reacher season 5 and a confirmed season 6. Season 5 is set to adapt the events of Child’s Make Me, the 20th Jack Reacher novel, while season 6 has not yet had its source material confirmed.
Should Reacher seasons 5 and 6, and Neagley season 2, achieve viewership numbers similar to the figures above, there’s no reason to believe the franchise won’t continue with additional seasons in the years ahead. Though Neagley isn’t working from any Child source material, there are 31 novels and novellas in the Jack Reacher series, meaning there are still many left to adapt should Amazon wish.
For now, there’s no sign that the Reacher franchise is going anywhere. With the latest viewership numbers, it’s clear that audiences haven’t gotten bored with the action thriller property just yet, which is a promising sign for its longevity.
