Born Again Season 2 Won’t Include The Best Thing About Season 1

Daredevil: Born Again season 1 was a defining moment in the MCU, but the show’s second season is moving beyond one central character. The Netflix Marvel shows delivered some spectacular castings with the likes of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk.

And thankfully, despite all the Netflix shows being canceled to make room for Marvel Studios to make their own TV projects, Kevin Feige and the rest of the studio saw the value that Daredevil brought to the table, and revived the series as part of the MCU.

However, season 2 of the show is set to look a little different to the MCU debut that brought this hero into the wider Marvel universe.

Daredevil: Born Again brought back much of the original cast, with Foggy Nelson and Karen Page appearing in the premiere episode, alongside some less friendly faces. However, one of the most exciting returnees was none other than The Punisher.

Season 1 saw a whole story arc revolve around this character, though he was largely detached from the movement of corrupt police officers who decided to don his symbol and commit violent acts in his honor.

But it’s now been confirmed that Jon Bernthal will not be returning in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 even though the character will be popping up in other MCU projects.

Beyond The Punisher’s logo playing a prominent role throughout season 1, when Bernthal actually did return and have his interactions with Karen and Matt, it was a spectacular moment for the MCU.

Not only was this a huge payoff for fans of the Netflix Marvel shows, but Bernthal’s casting has long been hailed as one of the absolute best for his portrayal of Frank Castle, and he absolutely brought that intensity and fire to reprising his role.

And it makes sense that the MCU is capitalizing on his incredible work by including the character in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and a special Punisher presentation.

As much as Bernthal’s absence will be felt in Born Again season 2, the show set up some exciting developments that are yet to be unpacked. Matt Murdock is gathering an army of vigilantes, while Mayor Fisk is tackling the vigilante problem head on with his militia.

On top of that, some of the other Marvel Netflix alums are set to return with Krysten Ritter reprising her role as Jessica Jones, and rumors of other members of The Defenders returning to Hell’s Kitchen as well. Of course, there is a lot still to uncover, but Daredevil: Born Again will not be lacking in star power or action.

On top of that, this will be an opportunity for Charlie Cox to further cement himself into the fabric of the MCU, ahead of the new Spider-Man movie, and before Avengers: Doomsday. With the interconnected franchise heating up, it’s exciting to see where Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will land the Man without Fear.
