Released back in 2023 as the fourth installment in the hit Blizzard franchise, Diablo 4 saw players take on procedurally-generated dungeons and loot-based character-building in order to survive in a world where demons roam free. Praised for its narrative and visuals, Diablo 4 received mainly positive reviews, and since its launch, Blizzard has released regular updates and DLCs for the hit RPG.
Back in October 2024, Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred was released, followed by its second expansion, Lord of Hatred, in April 2026. However, with the base game typically costing around $49.99 and expansions being a separate cost on top, it is not always easy to stay up to date with Diablo 4‘s latest updates.
Luckily, there is now a way to play Diablo 4 for free, albeit for a limited time. To celebrate the brand-new Season of Death Awakening which began back on 30 June, Blizzard is giving users the chance to embark on a free Warlock trial. In the game, players are able to pick between eight playable classes: Barbarian, Sorcerer, Druid, Rogue, Necromancer, Spiritborn, Paladin, or Warlock, with each offering their own unique skills and playstyles.
In this free trial, you will be able to become a Warlock and experience Season of Death Awakening at no extra cost. The brand-new season launched alongside the standard quality-of-life improvements and content. Perhaps most notably, however, was the arrival of Pandemonium Ruptures, arcane rifts that are home to a new type of enemy. As always, battling these enemies will see you come one step closer to the boss who also arrives alongside brand-new loot.
However, if you are new to Diablo 4, you will be able to use this opportunity to check it out courtesy of this free Warlock trial. Not only that, but it is available even if you do not own the most recent Lord of Hatred expansion. Running from 30 June to 7 July, the free trial is available on Battle.net, Xbox, and PlayStation with players able to level up their Warlock character to level 30 during this time. Additionally, if you choose to purchase the Lord of Hatred expansion after this time, you will be able to retain your progress and continue where you left off.
This offers the perfect opportunity to try out Diablo 4 if you are new to the game, as well as giving you the chance to perhaps try out a new class if you are a returning player. After all, at absolutely no cost, you have nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain.
