    Digger Box Office Day 3: Tom Cruise Starrer Off To A Slow Start

    Digger released in theatres on October 2, 2026, and the hype was bonkers, considering Tom Cruise would be seen in a completely different role in contrast to his action avatar.

    A year after his last release in 2025, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning; the movie was expected to do numbers in the box office. However, on day 1, in India, Digger only managed to collect Rs. 65 lakhs. The weekend did not fare too well either, with day 2 or day 3 seeing a net collection of Rs 45 lakhs each. In total, Digger has only managed an overall collection of Rs 1.55 crores in India.

    On a global scale, Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s critically acclaimed Digger grossed around $8 million at the North American box office. Tom Cruise’s stardom spans widely across the globe, yet the film only managed to gross around $12 million. It is to be seen if the movie picks up its pace over the next few days to even begin remotely scratching the surface of its production budget.

    This is truly a rocky start, especially for a movie with a budget as high as $125 million, or reportedly even more, as tracked by the industry. Furthermore, this also comes just days after Warner Bros. Discovery’s acquisition of Paramount comes to fruition, following the US district court approving the $110 billion deal.

    This takeover ended one of the biggest takeover battles in cinema’s history. With this acquisition, Warner Bros. and Paramount now share a list of beloved titles, including Top Gun, Star Trek, Mission: Impossible, Lord of the Rings, Gremlins, Harry Potter, and Game of Thrones, among many others. It’s left to see how this new merger will add more original titles to this vast list.
