With Minions & Monsters set to hit theatres on July 2 in India, director and longtime Minions’ voice actor Pierre Coffin has opened up about why the film travels back to the 1920s, revealing that the era offered much more than just vintage glamour. The upcoming animated feature, directed by Coffin and written by him alongside Brian Lynch, is the third instalment in the Minions prequel series and the seventh film in the Despicable Me franchise.

Minions & Monsters aims to pay tribute to the golden age of cinema, blending classic monster movies with the birth of Hollywood as audiences know it today. Alongside voicing the Minions, Pierre Coffin is joined by a voice cast that includes Trey Parker, Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeff Bridges, Zoey Deutch, Bobby Moynihan and Phil LaMarr.
