Final Fantasy is in a really exciting moment as a franchise right now; several releases are on the way, and fans have high expectations. The biggest of those is the final part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, Revelations, which concludes a story that the developers spent over six years telling up to this point.
At the same time, Final Fantasy Resonance is about to drop a much more classical take on the turn-based genre with beautiful HD-2D pixel art combined with 3D cinematics and animations. That could easily end up being one of the best releases of this year, particularly if they managed to deliver the depth of strategy that they’re currently claiming.
Outside of those, there are plenty of other releases coming along that are attached to the franchise as a whole, including one that celebrates one of the best games in the series today.
Over on the official Square Enix website, you should be able to find the product page for FINAL FANTASY IX Music Box – Not Alone. As you can probably tell from the name, this is a pocket-sized music box that plays the beloved track from the game, while the lid features silhouette art of many of its most recognizable characters.
In sharing a little about the design of the box, the manufacturer posted the following description: “This is the FINAL FANTASY IX music box, featuring the song “Not Alone” with the silhouettes of Zidane and his companions, Garnet, Vivi, Adelbert, Freya, Eiko, Quina, and Amarant on the front.
“Classic songs spanning across the FINAL FANTASY series are now available as music boxes. The designs on the case are pulled right from the scenes where these songs are heard to evoke beloved memories of the series.”
The product is currently available to pre-order via the Square Enix North America store for $25.99, with an expected dispatch next month, though they haven’t gone as far as giving a date just yet.
That’s not the only music box that the developer is producing either, with several other memorable songs from some of the biggest games in the series available for pre-order. Those include A Place To Call Home and Roses Of May for Final Fantasy IX, as well as Theme Of Love from Final Fantasy IV and The Crystal Tower from Final Fantasy III.
It will be really interesting to see how the two upcoming games land with different portions of the Final Fantasy community, particularly between older and newer fans. At the same time, we don’t know what Square Enix plans to do with the mainline series next, and if it will be another remake project, or something entirely new. The next major release we know about is Final Fantasy Resonance, which releases in just a few days. After that, we’ve got the final entry in the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy coming in 2027. I’d bet Final Fantasy 17 will be the priority once that’s relased, but we’ll have to wait and see.
