Halo has been around long enough to court generations of fans. It was one of the first real waves of console shooter success following GoldenEye 64, and helped usher in a ton of eSports tournaments. Even though its popularity has waxed and waned over the past 25 years, it’s remained part of popular culture in some form.
There’s also a looming big release coming, with Halo: Campaign Evolved set to remake the original, one of the most beloved shooters to this day. Given that it’s also going to be released on PlayStation 5, it’s a pretty monumental time for the stewards of Halo right now. Plus, we’re all waiting to see what the next post-Infinite mainline entry will be, amid tons of lore drops.
We also know that the 25th anniversary celebrations have been extended a bit beyond the release of Halo: Campaign Evolved. Thanks to an official post on Halo Waypoint, we’re now aware that the original Master Chief and Cortana have been reunited.
According to the Halo team, the original voice duo behind Master Chief and Cortana (Steve Downes and Jen Taylor, respectively) reunited recently to record for Halo: Combat Evolved. For reference, Downes and Taylor have recorded for their respective characters basically the entire time, with Taylor even diving into the role of Cortana in the Halo TV show.
However, a reunion in the recording booth isn’t the only thing these iconic cast members have planned. All of these festivities culminate in Halo Fest 2026, at the Seattle Convention Center from December 11-13.
According to the organizers, Downes and Taylor will be present: “For Halo Fest, Steve and Jen will be spending as much time as possible with the community so expect meet and greets, signings, and photo ops through the weekend. We will share their detailed schedule later this fall ahead of the big event.”
The main event is a concert, held on December 11, which sounds like a celebration of all things Halo: “An orchestral journey through the 25 years of Halo performed by the Seattle Symphony. It will be a night of music and visual storytelling celebrating the music and culture of this incredible franchise we all love. This is the first official Halo music concert – you will not want to miss this.”
If you’re a Halo fan, you’re probably invested in the voice performances for the series, especially since Bungie and 343 Industries have brought on tons of talented actors for the series, including Keith David and John DiMaggio.
