Young Sherlock faces the end of an era a few months after the detective series became a global hit. Prime Video’s 2026 shows have been performing strongly, with several exciting new shows conquering the streaming service. Sure, returning projects like Invincible, The Boys, Citadel, and more also saw massive viewership spikes on the streamer, but those were to be expected.

The fact that new shows like Young Sherlock, Off Campus, Scarpetta, Spider-Noir, and more have managed to become worldwide hits after their first seasons is the most exciting factor for the streaming service. After all, not only are some of those among Prime Video’s best TV shows ever, but their success signals the start of new franchises for the streamer.

Young Sherlock is the latest TV show to focus on the most popular detective in fiction, Sherlock Holmes. Off Campus adapts a viral romance book franchise. Scarpetta is an adaptation of a 29-novel crime thriller franchise. Spider-Noir is an alternate universe Spider-Man crime story. All of these shows have the potential to stay on Prime Video for several years to come.

    Your Young Sherlock Identity

    🔍

    Sherlock Holmes

“The world is full of obvious things which nobody ever observes.”
You’re the brilliant outsider who sees what everyone else misses. Your mind never switches off — every room is a crime scene, every conversation a puzzle to decode. People find you intense, sometimes abrasive, and a little exhausting, but when trouble arrives you’re the first person anyone calls. You struggle with the emotional side of life, preferring logic to sentiment, but deep down you care far more than you’d ever admit. Like young Sherlock, you’re still learning that the sharpest mind in the room isn’t always the wisest.

    Brilliant
    Restless
    Fearless
    Obsessive

    😈

    James Moriarty

“Every fairy tale needs a good old-fashioned villain.”
You’re the one who sees the entire game before it’s even begun — and you’ve already decided how it ends. Charming on the surface and ruthless underneath, you understand people better than they understand themselves, and you’re not above using that knowledge to get exactly what you want. You don’t do anything without a reason, and your patience is terrifying — you’ll wait years to spring a trap. People either admire you or fear you, and honestly, you prefer it that way. Like young Moriarty, your brilliance is matched only by your ambition, and you believe the line between hero and villain is just a matter of perspective.

    Cunning
    Charismatic
    Ruthless
    Patient

    ♔

    Mycroft Holmes

“I occupy a minor position in the British government.”
You’re the quiet power behind the curtain — the one who sees the entire chessboard while others are fixated on a single piece. You prefer strategy over action, influence over confrontation, and you never break a sweat because you planned for every contingency three moves ago. People underestimate you because you don’t chase the spotlight, but that’s exactly how you like it. Your composure is legendary, your patience is a weapon, and your ambition runs deeper than anyone suspects. You protect the people you love — you just do it from the shadows.

    Strategic
    Composed
    Ambitious
    Calculating

Among them, Young Sherlock accomplished an impressive streaming feat. However, the show, which has already been renewed for season 2, recently took a major hit that serves as the end of an era for the Sherlock Holmes series. While it is not an event that puts the Guy Ritchie series’ future in question, a streaming streak is now over.

Young Sherlock Has Finally Been Dethroned

Young Sherlock debuted on Prime Video on March 4. All eight episodes of the new detective series were released on the same day, making Young Sherlock the perfect binge on the streaming service. Only a day after it premiered, Young Sherlock became the most-watched TV show on Prime Video in the United States, shortly after conquering the world as the streamer’s most-watched series on the global charts. On May 26, at almost the three-month mark of the detective series’ release on the streaming service, Young Sherlock was finally dethroned, being pushed out of Prime Video’s Global Top 10 TV Shows chart.

As of today, May 29, Young Sherlock has yet to make its way back onto the coveted chart. According to FlixPatrol, that chart is led by Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Noir, which managed to surpass the hit series Off Campus, now in 2nd place. Other prominent shows include The Boys, Citadel, Invincible, The Summer I Turned Pretty, Fallout, and more. Young Sherlock is also no longer among Prime Video’s most popular shows in the United States. As such, it is officially the end of an era for Ritchie’s latest Sherlock Holmes adaptation, leaving the charts it had been on since its debut.

Young Sherlock Season 2 Should Easily Reclaim That Streaming Spot

Young Sherlock might no longer be one of Prime Video’s most-watched TV shows worldwide, but the series’ future is bright all the same. With nearly three months trending on the streamer, Young Sherlock season 2 should have no problems trying to get back on the charts whenever it debuts. Recently, creator Matthew Parkhill took to Instagram to confirm that production on Young Sherlock season 2 had officially started. Parkhill also shared new images of James Moriarty actor Dónal Finn and Sherlock Holmes star Hero Fiennes Tiffin on the set as their characters.

According to Parkhill, ahead of season 1’s debut, the Young Sherlock trailer became the most-watched for a Prime Video series of all time with 233 million views. That was later converted into almost three months on the streamer’s global charts. Recently, John Krasinski’s Jack Ryan franchise returned with Prime Video’s new No.1 movie, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War, and it helped the Jack Ryan series also climb back onto the United States’ TV show chart. Now having already been established as a hit, Young Sherlock season 2’s release is likely to get even more eyeballs on season 1.
