The DC Universe is being further fleshed out across the big and small screens.
While the DCU’s Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters” is actively working on a lot of its theatrical releases, TV is also a crucial element of James Gunn’s franchise. As Lanterns is getting ready to launch this August on HBO, another television property is taking a massive step forward.
David Jenkins, who was hired as the Booster Gold showrunner, shared an exciting update on BSky, revealing that he has officially submitted his pilot script to DC Studios, stating that, “Just handed the Booster Gold pilot in. I love it. One of my favorite pilot scripts. 💙💛” Check out his full post below:

This comes nearly two months after Gunn shared on Threads that Booster Gold was still in development, as there have been various rumors that the potential superhero entry had been quietly cancelled. It will now be up to HBO Max to decide if they are going past the pilot stage by giving it a series order or if the project needs to be retooled.
The Booster Gold TV show was first announced to be in the works back in January 2023 when DC Studios revealed their initial slate. For Warner Bros. Discovery, this is the third major attempt at a solo project for the futuristic hero.

Are you an Absolute expert — or still in the main continuity?
In late 2011, SYFY attempted to develop a live-action series from Arrowverse’s Greg Berlanti that ultimately didn’t go forward. During the DCEU movie timeline era, the DC Films division had Zack Stentz pen a feature script for the beloved character, which would have marked his film debut.
Booster had a brief time in the Arrowverse franchise, as Scrubs’ Donald Faison brought Michael Jon Carter to life during Legends of Tomorrow season 7. Had The CW renewed the series for season 8, he was intended to be a series regular.
Smallville season 10 was the first time Michael was depicted in live-action, where Eric Martsolf guest-starred as the DC icon in episode 18, “Booster.” As of writing, no actor has officially been cast to play the DCU character in the HBO Max series.
If Booster Gold moves forward at HBO Max, it remains to be seen if it would get the Lanterns treatment by airing on HBO while also having episodes be released on the streaming platform. The potential drama would follow a once-promising football athlete from the 25th century who goes back in time, through advanced technology, to become a hero in the past, a.k.a. the DCU’s present timeline.
