Warning: Spoilers for The Mandalorian and Grogu

Star Wars returned to theaters last month with the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu, which tells the story of the next adventure of Din Djarin and his adopted son. The film debuted with a mixed reception, which shows in its box office performance thus far.

The Mandalorian and Grogu has grossed just over $300 million at the worldwide box office so far, which makes it the lowest grossing Star Wars movie to date. Before this, the lowest was Solo: A Star Wars Story, which took in just south of $400 million back in 2018. However, crucially, The Mandalorian and Grogu has a budget less than half of Solo, which means it doesn’t have to make nearly as much money to make a profit.

Other complaints focused on the lack of scale of the story, which centers on Din Djarin and Grogu as they battle against the Hutt twins. It’s a small-scale story which some claimed was too minimal for the first Star Wars movie in seven years.

Another area that fans centered on was Pedro Pascal’s limited screen time. His role in the film was carefully written, with Din Djarin killing the Hutt twins after they saw his face, meaning that he didn’t break his helmet rule. This brought questions regarding Embo, who brought Din to the Hutt’s in the first place, but director Jon Favreau recently confirmed that the bounty hunter didn’t see Mando’s face.

After taking in Lord Janu Coin, Din Djarin and Grogu return to Nevarro. They don’t realize, however, that they were tracked by Embo, a bounty hunter working for the Hutt twins (and a character that first appeared in the animated Clone Wars series). Embo raids the home of Din and Grogu, kidnapping Mando and leaving Grogu with the Anzellans.

From there, Embo takes Din back to Nal Hutta, where he’s presented in front of the twins. It’s here that the Hutts forcibly remove his helmet, noting that it’s priceless on the black marker because it’s made of Mandalorian steel, also known as Beskar. Fans questioned the specifics of this scene, mainly with regard to Embo’s whereabouts after he delivers Din Djarin. Favreau confirmed that Embo left the throne room after dropping Din off, meaning that he wasn’t present when the helmet was removed.

After his helmet is removed, Din is forced to fight against a huge dragon snake. He eventually escapes but is poisoned, and is incapacitated before Grogu helps to heal him. From there, Din and Grogu go back into the Hutt’s fortress to end the conflict once and for all. They fight against the powerful droid gotra, the army that the crime family employs as security.

Din and Grogu rescue Rotta the Hutt, who then helps them in their fight. Rotta fights his relatives, and he’s eventually willing to sacrifice himself to kill the twins. However, at this moment, Grogu steps in and uses the Force to raise Rotta up from the broken ground, saving him and condemning the Hutt’s.

Din and Grogu kill the Hutts here, as they fall into the dragon snake pit and are eaten. As a result, Din’s helmet rule is intact, as those who saw his face later died at the hands of the snake. Because of this, Din doesn’t need to go back to the mines of Mandalore and perform the ritual of bathing in the living waters again. Instead, he can continue living as normal, with his helmet rule not broken after The Mandalorian and Grogu.
