Shared professional goals
The director, who recently backed Sing Geetham (an experimental film with a message about environmentalism), shares a beautiful love story with Priyanka Dutt, daughter of veteran Telugu film producer Ashwini Dutt. The duo first crossed paths during the making of an ad film in the mid-2010s. Their professional bond soon blossomed into a deep personal relationship, built on their shared passion for filmmaking.
“It was during Yevade Subrahmanyam that we realized we should take it forward. By then, we both had reached the right age for marriage. Priyanka is a down-to-earth person. We both share the common professional goal of making good movies. Movies are our only interest. We have no distractions in life. Ashwini Dutt garu is also quite a simple person. They have no airs,” Nag Ashwin once said. Since their marriage, Nag Ashwin and Priyanka have been an unstoppable team, constantly supporting each other’s creative journeys in the Telugu film industry.
Kalki 2 on floors
On the professional front, Nag Ashwin is riding high on the success of Kalki 2898 AD, a dystopian film that co-starred Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan. The sci-fi epic earned immense praise for its grand visuals and mythological storytelling, particularly its morally complex climax. Fans are now eagerly awaiting the sequel, Kalki 2, which recently went on the floors. The director has already teased a deeper exploration of its futuristic world.
