Kpop Demon Hunters’ New Successor Goat Just Kicked Off Its Own Netflix Record

KPop Demon Hunters‘ 2026 successor is steadily building up its own streaming record on Netflix, raising the question of how close the film can come to its iconic predecessor. Given the eye-watering level of success Kpop Demon Hunters has garnered since its release back in 2025, it seems the movie has ushered in a new era of sorts for the world of animated movies, encouraging more to be added to release slates, and helping pave the way for films with similar styles like Forgotten Island.

As the most-watched Netflix movie of all time and a film that’s stayed in the platform’s weekly top 10 most-watched movies for 53 weeks, it’s safe to say KPop Demon Hunters‘ popularity has provided an extra badge of approval for audiences when it comes to films that follow in its footsteps, be that in terms of the animated musical fantasy film’s story, or in terms of its engrossing and lovingly detailed art style, which also played a key role in the release’s results.

KPop Demon Hunters 2 is confirmed to be on the horizon, but 2026 has set up more than one movie to serve as KPop Demon Hunters‘ prospective successor in the meanwhile. Looking at Netflix’s official viewing charts now, though, it does appear there’s one clear candidate for this role – and this may become all the clearer depending on how the movie’s next few weeks and months on the platform go.

Goat Is Now In Its Sixth Week In Netflix Most-Watched Movies Charts

Following its release on Netflix in May 2026, Goat has flown into the top spots of Netflix’s most-watched movies – a matter that’s no surprise given the theatrical success of the film, and since it’s another of Sony Pictures Animations’ efforts in the animated world, meaning it’s able to follow on from KPop Demon Hunters, which was also made by the studio.

As of June 15-21, Goat is currently in its sixth week in Netflix’s most-watched English language movie charts (as per Netflix‘s official stats), which is already notably above the norm for most films that find themselves in this leaderboard, since one or two weeks is oftentimes more commonplace. Since Goat arrived on Netflix on May 14, this means it’s been in this chart every week since it first emerged on the platform, which is a promising start.

Though it’s possible the coming weeks will derail this slowly building record – as Goat is currently in tenth place, though it’s not unheard of for films to rise back up the charts later down the line – if Goat is able to stick its streaming landing, it seems possible if not likely that the film will be able to net at least two months as one of the most-watched Netflix movies worldwide week on week, and could easily build from there as its status and legacy grows further.

Goat Looks Likely To Build Its Own Mega Netflix Record On The Streaming Platform

Goat has several hallmarks that are shared by Netflix’s most popular movies, meaning it’s easy to see a world wherein the film retains its current title for a fair amount of time going forward. Animated family-friendly films have a crucial place as part of the Netflix ecosystem, since they make for easy and accessible watching that’s also appropriate for all audiences, opening it up to Netflix’s full viewer base.

With Swapped and KPop Demon Hunters still retaining their respective places in the roster of Netflix’s most-watched movies weekly worldwide, there’s plenty of evidence to show Goat could be capable of also staying in the proverbial streaming race. This is doubly true given the film has plenty of rewatch value, both to catch all the detailed animations, and because it has tons of fun extra little details that are easy to miss the first time around.

Combined, it’ll be no surprise if Goat is able to net itself a healthy viewing record in the charts before it finishes its main run on Netflix that truly cements it as a successor of sorts to KPop Demon Hunters on the platform. That said, it’s also very possible the film could have a major resurgence later down the line a little later after those who watched it before decide to give it a revisit, with movies like The Bee Movie and 2023’s Migration having previously hit Netflix’s 2026 global charts and provided some prime examples of how the film could be many years off the end of its streaming heights.
