One of the defining features of The Legend of Zelda as a series is the various incarnations that one of our protagonists, Link, has been through over the years. The overall timeline for the franchise is so extensive now, that there are at least twelve individual characters in the bloodline, with your favorite likely dictated by which games you love the most.
For many, the most iconic and memorable version of the character is still Ocarina of Time/Majora’s Mask, a character who we took from their childhood and brought them on to great things. Visually, it was also probably still the most striking, so it’s little wonder that the fan base regularly calls for that aesthetic to return. Well now, it has, and in a place that you would almost never expect.
If you weren’t aware, there is a PC port of Twilight Princess out there that does a brilliant job of translating the game to the platform. Now known as Dusklight (formerly Dusk), after some legal issues, the mod is well worth playing if you own the game and are looking for an easy way to play it without setting up the old consoles.
The mod has just hit a full release, and that has also opened the proverbial floodgates for players to start creating their own mods for the PC version of the game. One of those brings the aforementioned Hero of Time, from Ocarina, across into Twilight Princess, and the quality of the model being shown off on YouTube really is beyond anything you might expect.
The comments were filled with players and fans who were simply blown away, with one saying, “Mod so good it had me confused when he put the sword in and he didn’t become a kid.”
“The models look phenomenal! The inclusion of Navi is also incredible, I’m very much looking forward to this,” another added.
While a third said, “The Man, the Myth, the Legend.. our boy is back.. He deserved a comeback and a chance to have another grand adventure.”
There’s no doubt that it is nice to see the character return in this form, even if it doesn’t make a ton of sense if we start drilling down into why exactly he might show up in Twilight Princess.
In even more exciting news if you’re an Ocarina of Time fan, it does seem as though the rumors of an upcoming remake for the Switch 2 could genuinely have some foundation to them. The same leaker who made the claim recently had their adjacent claim of a Star Fox game confirmed by Nintendo, and if that isn’t a good sign then we don’t know what is.
